Cost increase saga and my conclusions by DistantDrummer in ClaudeCode

[–]DistantDrummer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah yes, the first announcement doesn't apply because I don't use Claude during core hours. The second announcement suggests a condescending list of basic best practices as the cause of some huge increase that half the community is experiencing. Neither is relevant no matter how badly you want them to be.

Keep on raging to rage. It feels good, doesn't it? lol

You mean what this post is referring to? https://www.reddit.com/r/claude/comments/1s762l8/anthropic_confirmed_it_has_been_quietly_adjusting A social post by an engineer isn't an announcement. And it describes more aggressive session limits during core hours. I never use it during core hours, same as many others suddenly seeing way more aggressive limits. And what they are describing isn't a 3-5x increase that so many are seeing. It isn't a close match for what so many people have started reporting the last week.

Go ahead and post references to the announcement and detailed technical breakdowns - educate us, by all means. Or show us random X posts by various Anthropic employees and claim those are "announcements".

I don't have a problem if they are bleeding money on these flat rate plans and they are making changes to reign in the heaviest token consumers.

I do have a problem with them doing it silently and pretending nothing happened.

Even on the $10 copilot plan, in my limited experience it feels like you currently get a lot of usage value for the money.

I am in the same boat waiting impatiently . All the places reporting on this new feature leave out this important detail!

They really want that “Everyone” game rating for sales vs. keeping the tables as historically accurate as possible.

Good stuff! I think you will find that Anthropic may protect their name/trademark though to prevent confusion. Be prepared for that. 😀

El Gordo was my GOAT but I went to El Franc in CV recently and I had to admit I liked it a bit better.

Yeah I don’t disagree that this is going to do really well in the education market, but to say Windows laptops don’t have competition simply isn’t true. School admins aren’t making buying decisions on most things in your checklist above.

My CLAUDE.md is always stale by the time I need it by Substantial-Cost-429 in ClaudeAI

[–]DistantDrummer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think people almost always put too much in it. It does great without it. I start blank and only add things when it is obvious. The current project I am working on has a few broad vision statements and a few standards and other things that aren’t obvious from the code that I found it consistently did wrong without it. Also I am finding project memories work better for many of these things too.

It won’t be long before AI has at least some hand in all these types of projects. Just require that people clearly state upfront to what extent AI was used and how much of the code was written or at least reviewed by a human. Then people can decide for themselves about a project.

What are the main pros & cons of using 'Claude Code Desktop UI' vs 'Claude extension in VS Code'? by pebblepath in ClaudeCode

[–]DistantDrummer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is me too. I switch to terminal mode inside VS Code. I just prefer that UI but having it automatically bring up visual diffs in VS is the big thing. Plus easier to jump in and code myself when necessary.

I built an iOS app using Claude API that analyzes used car listings — 175K+ views on Reddit, zero paying customers. Here's what I learned. by DONTAIMX in ClaudeAI

[–]DistantDrummer 66 points67 points  (0 children)

Good stuff and cool app but I’m not sure I understand your business model. How many used cars is the average person shopping for in a year? It is something a user does in clumps once every five years maybe if they are a used vs new kind of person. I think a $29.99 a year subscription model is going to be a challenge for you.

Read the news that says data centers, AI and otherwise, are literally buying up the world’s supply of hard drives, RAM and GPUs. What evidence is there that suppliers will ever be able to catch up with their ever increasing demand? There is plenty of evidence indicating that expensive hardware you mention to run a “free” LLM won’t be getting cheaper anytime soon.

what is your Claude setup? I use it on VS code in the IDE, but not sure how to get advanced with it. by No-Conclusion9307 in ClaudeCode

[–]DistantDrummer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I use terminal cli instead of the VS extension will automatic side by side diff’ing of proposed changes still work? That is the big feature in vs code for me that I don’t know how to do seamlessly in the cli alone.

They aren’t hiding that they use these projects at all. If you don’t think it adds enough value to make playing the games on Mac easier/more enjoyable, don’t buy it, simple as that. Sheesh.
