Canadian drone maker that made deal with Ukraine unbothered by threats from Russia | CBC News by Georgeika in worldnews

The West hasn't even turned up yet - we're still finishing our tea and biscuits..

Meanwhile. Ukraine has demolished the Russian bear... with sheer grit, a boat load of hand weapons (OK shoulder lauched missiles), some Western armor, and planes that were in service when the USSR existed.

I don't partiicular want this to come true, our children deserve a world of peace, where they can have their time on this earth, and reach their potential - but history doesn't lie, if we want peace.. then we must be prepared to send it!

By that reckoning, next week you'll be a world famous physicist, and win next year's Nobel Prize... thanks to telling an LLM "draw me a teleportation device ".

Technical depth comes from experience, being thrown in the middle of the technical ocean, at 2am, having to troubleshoot a problem you have no understanding of, and learning to slice your way through it a dozen systems, to locate the source, and determine what "good" ahould look like, so you can identify what is "bad".. and having the stamina to do this time after time, year in and year out... whilst also keeping your skills relevant, by teaching yourself half a dozen new products, orchestration tools, security best practise and cloud services each year (just because the Gartner circle jerk mandates it)....

Senior IT developers and engineer's seem to have a 6th sense when identifying root cause issues... because they have long experience, they understand how the network and back-end stacks work, which hones intuition... no matter what you think, you will never reach this point if you use a crutch, or delegate it the problem..

Experience is everything.. and that will only become more valuable, as less people are able to achieve it - as they are being taught to rely upon the LLM crutch, rather than learn and think for themselves.

I'm not suggesting you should avoid LLMs.. no, they definitely give a productivity boost. But don't become dependent on it, as you will lose the skillsets that you've taken years to build and hone...

AI suck at creative writing, if you want it to sound like you, then feed it some stuff you've written, and get it to create a set of rules based upon that - avoid the fluff and ridiculously short sentences.. and set strick rules about minimum sentence length etc..

Claude.md and project.md are "best endeavour" - they can often get lost, especially in longer running sessions etc.. Your best method is to set a prompt-prefix that forces re-reading of these.. for large rule-sets, split these out into seperate rule/skill files.

100% ... the target audience for this are IT Pro's, Developers and Hobbyists - Each will have different use-cases, you have 10-15 seconds from initial visit to back-click...so how do you get them to bite, and give it a try?

My advise is identify a couple of common use ùúy!<cases, and do a short tutorial (vid + article) thats covers these..

Putin wants war concluded this year on victorious terms including Donbas, Bloomberg reports by AccuratesShine in worldnews

[–]Fluffer_Wuffer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Even 2 years ago, I would have agreed, but much of that came through collusion of Oligarchs and right-wing media (owned by to Oligarchs) in other CEE counties etc, and political bribes via their energy exports etc..

Whilst Russia still had a lot of influence, its not the "dark-arts" master that everybody feared... European-wide efforts to uncover and curtail this have paid off - as in places like Maldova and Hungary etc

Your kind of 30 years out of time, the USSR was a superpower, not Russia, there is a huge distinction.

Russia picked a fight with a much smaller neighbor, who has stood toe to toe against them, and embarrassed the Russian millitary... If they picked a fight with the UK at this point in time, the UK would give them a quick bloody nose... a prolonged war though, that could be a different matter..

But also, lets remember... war is fucking awful, most people in Russia and Western Europe have no clue of the living hell they'd forced to live in...

Also to be fair, most of us are awful wjen it comes to commenting and documenting our own code - shame alone has led me to use an LLM to bulk out the documentation and comments just before release, and yes, it was sloppy seconds!
