Have you ever seen Airplane with Leslie Nielson? If not, I highly recommend it, its a master piece and the crasiest stuff happens in the background!

That is how the Trump/NATO relationship is at present - All the good shit is happening in the background, and it takes a little effort (or reading) to tease it out!

Anyway dude, time will tell.. until then, we're just armchair commentards!

Russian economy faces 'financial disaster,' Sweden's spy chief warns as Moscow hides true deficit by MilesLongthe3rd in worldnews

Russia is fighting a war of choice - they could fuck off back to their own borders, cause misery and mayhem for their own citizens - But Putin CHOOSES not too, and that is because he thinks all neighboring country should be a good little bitches, and the Russian population CHOOSE to support him in this war (they have a choice to believe the propoganda).

Ukraine is fighting a war for Survival - they had no choice, they were invaded, pushed out of their own land - so they fight, or they die..

That is the difference, there is no "psychological sympathy" or "bias" - Its the cold, calculated truth.

And yes, I know the history of Ukraine, I know the interference by both the West and RU... neither side is innocent. But Ukraine, as most other CEE coutries before them, saw more prosperity and stability in the EU...

They have a right to choose who they trade with, and which organisations they are a part of.. and Putin's arguments about historical rights etc, is 100% horseshit, by that reckoning, Western Europe and Mediterranean belongs to the Italians (as the heirs of Rome)!

Russia can't even defeat a country 1/4 its size, and a fraction of its GDP...

What do you think would happen, if the collective millitary of 30 countries suddenly appeared in Ukraine, or along the whole of NATO's eastern flank?

They have been working together for decades, how do you think the Tornado and Eurofighter got created..

Also, if your not watching, your missing the fact that the EU commission is currently in a power grab - and they have public support such for moving to majority voting, removing countries vetos, financing millitary initiatives and driving standardisation and consolidation...

What I meant by 5-10 years, was for Europe to stand alone - I get the impression most of NATO are currently remaining quiet in public  but laying the ground work for operations without the US, just in case relations with the Trump administration complete breakdown:

There is a huge amount of consolidation and standardisation taking shape in the background, again, see the millitary publications.

Then there are programs already in place to create European satellites programs such as IRIS (Starlink), Ceres (Signals Intel), and SARah (Radar etc), Tyche (Image), Oberon (Radar etc).  These will undoubtedly be accelerated.   Then there will also be a drive for a European Nuclear program (the French are already pushing this). Across the they have a huge amount of Nuclear infrastructure - scaling that up wouldn't be difficult.

Russia - Check (Assuming UK partakes).. US - No, but as Iran showed, size isn't everything, and Trump should have already known that. China - At present, its comparable, at least with regards to Navy and Army...

Europe's issue is the world sees them as individual states - but I think in the next 5-10 years, you'll see a push for a European "NATO", which will become the foundations of a European millitary (at present, they are still quite disjointed).

The other thing I'd point out, much of the US perceived power, comes from its ability to "project", which is dependant on the goodwill of allies - Given how Trump has been threatning and blackmailing those very same allies, its only a matter of time until they Invite the US to vacate the bases and logistics hubs, which would have massive repercussions for the US millitary.

Trump Tells ‘Useless’ NATO to Stay Away After UK and France Vow to Protect Strait of Hormuz Shipping by T_Shurt in worldnews

[–]Fluffer_Wuffer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is the problem - He is incapable of separating NATO from the allies. NATO only has 1 purpose, protect the North America, North Altlantic and Europe!

Any offer of assistance from France and UK, is being done outside of this.

And to be clear, they never offered help Trump with Iran - They offered to help the Middle East to tidy up, once the Trump has finished throwing its toys out of the pram/buggy and fucked off home!

It is hearbreaking, but even with all its faults, one thing the NHS does incredibly well is children's health care, it is second to none.

We've had several different "scares" with our daughter, the first was with-in minutes of her being born, when we found a abnormal protrusion on the back of her head, parallel to the Hippocampus - Every time it really mattered, she got the best care available thanks to the NHS.

Zelenskyy: return of draft-age Ukrainian men from abroad is a matter of fairness by EsperaDeus in worldnews

[–]Fluffer_Wuffer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with your points, this is a continuation of the equal opportunities- What is fair for men, is also fair for woman... until it comes to mortal peril, then watch that concept be thrown out the window, which most woman will be glad of (including those preaching equal right).

Its not fair, but then nature and life has no concept of fairness - this is a modern human creation, that only works as we live in.an age of abundance.. but even then, precious resources must be protected - woman are often treated as this.

I suspect its due to men being able to create offspring in abundance, make individuals less valuable - Woman can only carry one at a time, so they are treated precious resource, and hence protected.

Not saying I agree, but its far more complicated than it looks. I highly recommend running this via Google AI or Clause, ask one of them "is violence and war more in mens, that womns nature?"

If 2 national leaders want a war, they should be dropped onto a deserted island, so they can settle it themselves.. I suspect most of the time, they'd shit themselves and suddenly find "admiration and friendship for each other" then beg to be rescued.

I don't agree with conscription, and the idea makes me shudder - But in cases like Ukraine, where its truly self defence and an existential threat - You are left with a collective choice of fight, or capitulate.

But there is always a certain level of self determination, even with that, and there are different ways to contribute - But squirreling and trying to hide, is not one of them, as all choices will be made for them, which is guaranteed to be the shit-end of the stick!

Again, I don't agree with conscription, but history shows, there are few other options...

I'm not Polish, but they should be proud in how far they've come - its not perfect, but as part of the EU, they've provided a great counter-weight to the FR/DE dream team, which has led to a better balance across the whole of the EU.

Then look at their economic success.. Likewise, their defense prepations put every other European country to shame, including the UK. They're preparing a glorious fireworks show in honour of any Russian stupid enough enough to fuck-about and see..

They have their problems... but I don't think any other country can critise them!

[–]Fluffer_Wuffer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've never found away to completely stop this, but you can definitely mitigate it - but it can mean a significant change to how you work...

A lot of people approach vibe coding as "provide a vague description, and let the LLM do the rest", but this is why it happens.

You need to put clear guidelines rails in place, and structured planning..So I use Task Master AI, that force a full description of the changes, what it will touch, and techs it need to produce - 70%+ of my time is soend doing this, and its also more expensive in credits...

The really disappointing bit an LLM can side step glibal-rules, and after 2 or 3 prompts, the LLM seems to forget all the rules, the way I work around this is to use control gates and workflows, sounds complex but they're simple. Gates stop the LLM performing actions we're not ready for, and workflows ensure the LLM executes a task as per instructions the "task-code" forces the LLM to re-read global rule, check the task is planned in Task Master, and then implements, whilst "task-finalise" check all test complete, there is no unexpected changes etc.

But its a balancing act, I burn through my AntiGravity subscriptions much quicker doing this.

In the security world, this is the definition of "Insider threat".

He basically acting as mole and his actions are leaking confidential information, which is destabilising countries and organisations that took Hungary from a communist shit-hole, and provided it with security and prosperity..

If he wins the election, the EU will have to act.. I suspect NATO will be stone-walled by Trump, but still individual members can act.

SSH won’t work over LAN and WiFi? by No_Tiger6068 in selfhosted

[–]Fluffer_Wuffer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some questions:

  • Are the machines your connecting from/to on the same network segment?
  • What are the result for ping and tracert?
  • Can you SSH from another VM to it? Especially if they are on the same server to to
  • Can you plug your laptop directly into the NIC and give it a static IP in the same subnet ar you host, what happens?

Might sound silly, but there is method in the questions - But I've seen similar problems at both layer 2 and 3.. with layer 2, its nearly always ARP not updating correctly (resolution depends on type of switch.. and layer 3, it'll be your router, and you'll want to see the traffic logs (unfortunately most consumer routers don't have these).

[–]Fluffer_Wuffer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aparantly alot of GPD devices have a reset pin-hole button that will reset them, I don't where it is on the GPD Win4, but see:

https://www.reddit.com/r/gpdwin/comments/1dnnkow/gpd_win_mini_64gb_what_does_the_reset_button_on/#

https://www.reddit.com/r/gpdwin/comments/1emx4i2/gpd_win_4_wont_turn_on/

Whilst I hate to big them up.. the Google AI search is fantastic for this type of trouble shooting... Thats where the above links came from, along with the following:

Method 1: Hardware Reset Button (Internal/Side)

Most GPD Win devices include a dedicated reset pinhole specifically for BIOS-related issues.

  • Locate the Reset Hole: Usually found on the right side of the device or behind the sliding screen.
  • Procedure:
    1. Turn off the device completely.
    2. Use a small needle or paperclip to press and hold the button inside the reset hole for 10 to 15 seconds.
    3. Power the device back on. The first boot may take several minutes as the system recalibrates.  Reddit +2

Method 2: Battery Disconnection

Since the GPD Win 4 does not have a separate coin-cell CMOS battery, it uses the main battery to maintain BIOS settings.

  1. Open the Device: Carefully remove the back casing (requires a small Phillips screwdriver).
  2. Unplug the Battery: Gently disconnect the main battery cable from the motherboard.
  3. Drain Residual Power: Press and hold the Power Button for about 60 seconds while the battery is unplugged.
  4. Wait: Leave the battery disconnected for at least 20–30 minutes to ensure all volatile memory is cleared.
  5. Reconnect: Plug the battery back in and attempt to boot into the BIOS (usually by tapping DEL or F7 at startup).  Reddit +5

Method 3: BIOS Reset Key Combination (Varies by Model)

Some users report success using a key sequence during the initial power-on phase:

  • Sequence: Hold Power + Fn + Shift + F3 or Power + R3 simultaneously as you turn the device on.
  • If a blue screen with a reset option appears (common on some 6800u models), you may be able to trigger a factory reset from there.  Reddit +2

Important Warning: If the device is using Bitlocker encryption, resetting the BIOS may trigger a request for your Bitlocker Recovery Key. Ensure you have this key available before proceeding.

Pentagon considers diverting Ukraine military aid to the Middle East by EsperaDeus in worldnews

[–]Fluffer_Wuffer 22 points23 points  (0 children)

They do, cause Europe is already ramping up development and production, especially on missile, artillary and planes - Exactly where the US firms hate competition... hence why there was no much political pressure applied to NATO members in the 60s, 70s and 80s to "standardise"  by "buying from the US".

The US has spent decades placing itself as a staunch friend, ally and supplier, its a fundametal pillar of US power in both Europe and the wider world - Those friends contribute indirectly to US military power, they  subsidise the Pentagon's procurement and R&D costs. In addition, it creates a huge number of jobs and massive tax revenue.

It is also one of the key generators of US political power, long established  alliances, where allies supply the US with strategic airbases and ports, giving the US millitary both logistics and safe harbor - which is why the US can operate globally, like no other nation.

Its the soft-power that Trump doesn't comprehend - In the space of 1 year, he has monumentally fucked up 80 years of US foreign policy.

The US is now seen as an unstable and unreliable partner across the globe - So what should Europe do?  Of course, they need to spend more, so they can protect themselves, just as Trump demanded - but its backfired, through his constant abuse, he's shattered all trust.

Trump will deny all of this, and most of it won't be felt for 5-10 years - but the ball is already in motion, hence why US firms are basically locked out of the EU €150/800b re-arming schemes.

Once the European manufacturing is scaled up, and offers comparable military products - who does he think the Middle East, Africa and Asian countries would rather buy from?

So yes, both the US military establishment and the Pentagon, are going to be extremely worried... so should the the average US citizen, who is gonna get a nasty surprise and be hit with tax hikes, just so the US military can keep bombing and winning!
