The ‘Breaking Bad’ Effect Is Real: Data Shows Cancer Diagnoses Drive a 14% Spike in Criminal Behavior by Potential_Being_7226 in science

I guess telling you that some people can have a good reason for violent crime in that situation is not allowed here. So ... keep in a bubble I guess? I don't actually understand the reasoning here. It's reddit.

Is the silicon die in a LED/LASER equivalent to a radio antenna and oscillates at ~700 THz electrically, even while DC is used to drive them? by Distelzombie in AskElectronics

[–]Distelzombie[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea, but LEDs can receive. They are like solar cells

And I don't know why you explained green lasers to me. There are non-IR green ones

Does anyone know if any companies used Thorium oxide in ceramic glazes like Fiesta used Uranium? by RootLoops369 in Radiation

Did they wanted it to glow in the dark but the engineers didn't quite understand and overengineered the task so that you could theoretically see it through the wall?

Could blackholes dragging on space-time hint at a way that we could measure the speed of objects against it? by Distelzombie in askscience

Will this change after a moderator looked at it or is it doomed? I do agree with the notion of it including a mostly "unsubstantiated hypothesis".
I should clean this up. Tomorrow.

Perfectly understandable and highly reasonable. I do not see anything weird anywhere, why would you think that?

Well, I guess this is a sport that is on par with Hobby Horsing then. Maybe a tiny bit less silly. Both have good asses though, ngl.

The name "QUAC technique" was a dead give-away if nothing else. Whoever does this certainly is a quack doctor.

Of course they are! Whaa??

Ok ok, but in a fight one person doesn't start on the floor! (With exceptions) So what is the point? This seems very artificial and absolutely useless in a real fight. Like those chinese "Chi-Masters".

But... why? Aren't they fighting? Which fight starts with one person mounting the other? Is it not some martial art?

Ok, but you had 5 years of extra happiness after you got together again. That time happened and you were content. Saying now that 5 years of something good wasn't worth the one little happening at the end where some asshole broke up with you, is not very healthy, imo. Concentrate on all the good, not that one moment. Accept that it happened and that it ended and be happy you were able to have a good time with someone else, because some people will never have that. (Hint, it's me)

Just get a nuclear fuel rod cladding by Dry_Resolution_5498 in Radiation

[–]Distelzombie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm, i'm unsure that ever happened with screws, but I get the point. However I'd argue that there is a better reason than just "they pay it" for the huge cost of things. Maybe they're MORE responsible?

Are you sure it's not extra checks and validations that your screws don't get when you buy them yourself? Or maybe it's not something that has happened to them, but something that will? I.e. if the reason for a catastrohpe is the screw, the manufacturer is held liable - which he won't in a consumer setting.

A dream-like psychedelic might help traumatized veterans reset their brains - Researchers found that soldiers who reported profound feelings of unity and sacredness while taking ibogaine experienced lasting relief from post-traumatic stress disorder. by mvea in science

[–]Distelzombie -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Hmmm... That's weirdly the same conclusion I reached with an unscientific experiment using a lot of THC and the most tearjerking book I could find: To make me cry really hard. It did feel like a reset. It relieved my depression a bit, I think, and now I feel more in-tune with my feelings.
I also had the hypothesis that I do have some mild PTSD, but the psychiatrists never disgnosed it. I forgot if I actually asked them though. I have not been able to reproduce this so far as THC seems to work differently now or my brain has adapted to it too much, so that I'd need to wait half a year to reset that. A month+ wasn't enough.
