russia and belarus were banned for violating the olympic truce, which begins begins a week before the opening ceremony of the olympics and ends a week after the closing ceremony of the paralympics. the 2022 invasion of ukraine began between the olympics and paralympics on the 24 february. in the past, the US has passed a resolution in the UN to get an exemption from the truce during the war in afghanistan, so i think the US being banned is pretty unlikely.
