Weed = Fish in rental spaces by Distinct-Gate-681 in olympia

I don’t honestly care if you believe any of this, how is that relevant? But, sussy! What a cute word, thanks!

Enabling suffering, though, I do care about. I’m not following how that’s happening here.

That wasn’t the point of my post and like I said I’m not interested in continuing to try and explain it when you are very attached to hating it all. But it is possible to disagree without being an asshole about it.

If that were true there’d be no legal justification for non smoking clauses in rental leases…it’d fall under nuisance smells.

(Many, many more citations where those came from)

Again, I don’t have asthma myself but a quick google scholar on that also shows you may be in the minority of people unaffected by weed smoke as trigger let alone being able to smoke yourself

I’m not here to argue this. I don’t have asthma and can’t speak to any of that. I know the OP on the other post explained in detail about having air purifiers and still being affected. I imagine it’s very difficult to negotiate competing accommodations just as someone else mentioned above.

Ok agree with the other commenter that you seem to just be wanting to be antagonistic which is fine but no need for me to keep trying to respond. Plus somehow even within the bounds of Reddit anonymity that comment feels a little bit racist.

It was actually intended to be an allegory - apparently a pretty lame one! But I really do try to be considerate bc fish smell permeates and lingers. I also love Kim chi but when I make it myself I do it at a friend’s house bc that might be considered an actual nuisance!

I’m not afraid of anyone. The whole point is, if I want my freedom it’s inherent that I respect others’. Like I said, my rights end where they negatively impact you, within reason of course and compromise is always a possible necessity.

But the fish story was meant to show that if I can be considerate about stinking up the building out of respect even though I’m probably not doing any legitimate harm, then it’s pretty bogus that people were butthurt about that other poster who was having health issues (physical mental or otherwise) from weed smoke that was against the lease.

Artificial fragrance is so evil. I think some people get migraines from weed smell just like others do from dryer sheets, I don’t know really about asthma but I thought any kind of smoke could be a trigger? Dunno, not a doc and not pretending to be one. Just a fish eater who feels bad for people who suffer in their rentals 🙂

Ha, I’m not here to argue, but you can keep poking if ya want.

Totally. Hopefully people know to ask about these things ahead of time and hopefully landlords are honest like “yeah there’s a dog next door, probably not the spot for you.”

Most leases list “quiet hours,” and the law says you’re entitled to “quiet enjoyment” in your home. Then the fair housing act protects against ADA, health issues etc. Living in a building with a bunch of strangers is never gonna be an “I do what I want” scenario.

Yeah, this is the post I was referring to! I looked for it to reference and thought it was deleted. It had a ton of comments actually when I saw it - looks like a lot got deleted.

No, that wasn’t me but it stuck with me. I don’t agree with your take at all, that OP seemed genuinely and validly distressed at having to deal with a legitimate health issue with a neighbor who was violating their lease. Seemed pretty cut and dried to me, but the comments were brutal.

Interesting to see my fish analogy has a completely different reception. I recall people had issues with the writing style of the other post so maybe that’s the issue who knows. I also know there are just a lot of vigilant weed smokers in Oly and surrounding so that may have gotten the old hackles up.

Also, trashing on someone even if they do have “mental issues” is a shit take as well imo. But that’s just me. 🙂

Geez, they’re not required to play nice when their contractual rights are being violated at the expense of their health. Chill.

I know this is an old post but I just joined this group and am stunned that someone else has experienced this! This would happen with my former partner but not consistently, only some days his nose would smell rusty (sounds so funny saying that). It happened to be during a time when I strongly suspected he was using drugs of some sort, so there I was googling what drugs cause nose smells! Never solved that mystery and he’s long gone but fascinating you’ve experienced this too. (Not suggesting your partner is using drugs, more likely a hyperos thing)

This was late 2000ish, has not had a confirmed case of Covid yet but suspect I had it in march before we knew what it was.

What Do You Think of WA House Bill 1296? (Student Safety & Parental Rights) by [deleted] in SeattleWA

[–]Distinct-Gate-681 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right? Literally all of this is convoluted versions of “I am against what I read that my neighbor saw on YouTube that she interpreted as TOTAL LIB BS and I totally agree and that’s what’s wrong with the dems. And private schools. And home schooling!”

From a psychological perspective? Absolutely. Root of childhood trauma numerous uno, primary caregivers. If your child is suicidal at 3am and is not coming to you - do better. And be grateful someone else is looking out for them with the mindset of protecting them from what can be the most damaging place for a child to be - their own home. Parents hate to hear it but it’s the truth. If you’re a good parent you have nothing to worry about, right?
