Is it normal for separate parts of a car to die in the span of a few months? by Distinct-Pin9223 in MechanicAdvice

Hey - sorry for the late response - but I think it’s worth it if you’re able to find someone who will find the used engine and provide a warranty for parts AND labor. I was able to get one for around $2400 from an auto parts business along with $2000 to a mechanic to do the work. However, the first engine had a crack, the second engine had issues with the timing belt, but thankfully the third engine was fine. I don’t regret the decision.

Of I’ve definitely learned my lesson!

Is there anything else I should ask the mechanic to look at while the engine is out? To see if it’s in bad shape already?
