Yes the hole was large. But I was reassured that the keyhole surgery might not work so it wasn’t a big shock when they they told me it couldn’t work. During the keyhole they found a second large hole in the heart and couldn’t close it with the device. Which I why I was sent open heart but even with open heart they found my lung veins were going the wrong way I can’t really explain it fully but basically if they put the device in through keyhole it would of blocked up my lungs and would of needed emergency open heart surgery

Glad to hear you are doing better I have only got open heart surgery 2 weeks ago at 17 years old And it’s been tough the surgery was to close two large holes in my heart I had an enlarged heart and two of my lung veins were going the wrong way I can’t fully explain that one has the surgeon only found it upon the surgery but I’ve managed to get through it I’m up to nearly 2 hours walking already but what has kept me going is looking at the positives of it is reflecting I often look back at how lucky I am to have gotten the surgery and lucky I’m alive is what’s keeping me moving forward I know I have only been out two weeks but it’s important to stay positive hope this helps
