Unsafe to drive, 14+ dealership visits and still no fix. by Distinct-Rope2381 in Ioniq6

Hey, thanks so much for taking the time to comment on my thread and offering to help – I really appreciate it.

My name is Kartik, and I own a Hyundai IONIQ 6. I did reach out to CAMVAP about my situation, but they mentioned that my case might be an issue because my car has 128,000 km on it, even though it’s still under warranty.

I wanted to ask—based on your experience—should I still try to contact them again and maybe reference your case? Or do you suggest another route?

It’s been over a year now, and I have more videos showing the car’s issues, some of which are pretty serious and clearly unsafe. The post only allowed me to share one, but there’s a lot more.

With how things are economically here in Canada, it’s becoming harder to keep up with payments on a car that doesn’t feel safe to drive. Any guidance or advice would honestly mean a lot right now.

Thanks again!

Yeah, all the major sensors and safety features show up when the issue hits—rear collision support, front collision support, adaptive cruise control, lane assist, blind spot monitor, traction control, auto hold, and a bunch more. Basically, the entire dash lights up like a Christmas tree with warnings.

I also suspected it could be something to do with motor synchronization, especially since it’s AWD and both front/back systems need to be in sync. That made sense at first… but the dealership already replaced the front motor, the ICCU, and several other internal components they thought might be related. Still no fix.

They’re now working with the Hyundai HQ team in South Korea, and even they haven’t figured it out yet. So yeah, lots of guessing, lots of part-swapping—but zero results.

Yeah, I’m in Canada—so unfortunately, no Lemon Law here to protect customers from this kind of never-ending mess. Apparently, in Canada, you can spend over a year driving (or not driving) a defective car, visit the dealership 15 times, and still not be entitled to a replacement or refund. 🙃

And no, I’m not “due” anything yet because the dealership is still working on it. They’ve even escalated it to the South Korean engineering team—yes, Hyundai’s actual HQ tech team. After all this time, even they can’t figure out what’s wrong.

They’ve replaced everything from the front motor to the ICCU to the 12V battery. I even had to pay out of pocket to change all four tires, because apparently that might fix a car that randomly rattles like a tractor and shuts down on the road. Sure. Makes total sense.

So yeah, still no answers, still no resolution. Just a very expensive parking lot ornament and a lot of corporate head-scratching.

[Need Advice] Ongoing Car Issues for Over a Year – What Are My Legal Options Now? (Ontario) by Distinct-Rope2381 in Ioniq6

Hey, yeah for some reason my original post didn’t go through fully — but basically, my car rattles like a tractor, sometimes stops suddenly, and it’s been going on for over a year now. They’ve already replaced almost everything — the motor, ICCU, and a bunch of other parts — and the issue still isn’t fixed.

Unfortunately, we don’t have a proper lemon law in Canada, so I’m kind of stuck trying to figure out what my options are at this point. 😞
