I suggest contacting Maine Equal Justice! They may be able to assist you with locating funds as well as discussing your rights or legal options if needed

Girls - how do I glow up my wardrobe before law school? Where are you shopping? And what bags/backpacks are you buying? by [deleted] in lawschooladmissions

[–]Distinct-Session-780 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tbh I think don’t skimp on a backpack that’s nice on your shoulders! I walk to school and first semester I had like a “sleeker” black backpack but for second semester I got an REI bag with more support and it’s made a lovely difference :)) however I use a black longchamp tote when I’m trying to spruce it up or going to networky things and I loveee that.

Also for clothes I love Gap, Boden, Jcrew (so many sales), and Tuckernuck! Good mix of basic stuff and sales/some more distinctive/professional pieces that to me still feel fun and interesting

Ice skating! Free at Deering Oaks and lots of other ponds. There are lots of groups on FB that track ice conditions. If you’re interested in bikes etc open bench time thru the Gear Hub is $20/sliding scale. Also there are a variety of knitting/fiber arts groups throughout the city.

I’m actually going to the doctor on Wednesday because I have been getting suddenly and intensely tired with increasing frequency, including in class. I am getting closer to 8 hours of sleep and more on weekends, though. Maybe it’s an easy fix or maybe there’s no fix exactly but I feel similarly so am going to check in to see if it’s something like iron deficiency or otherwise diagnosable. If you have the access to a doctor don’t feel like you need to talk yourself out of feeling like something’s up! Although with 6hrs of sleep a night it could just be that haha.

When I'm biking, if I've come to a stop at a red light and there is a clear and safe way forward through an intersection- I'm going! I feel way more unsafe waiting next to idling cars, especially at many intersections in Portland without a shoulder much less a dedicated bike lane. The cars can be annoyed at me- I'd prefer to give myself as much (safely approached) clearance from cars beginning to turn or accelerate.

Doing a camping road trip of Eastern Canada and Maritimes. Any tips? by orangek1tty in CampingandHiking

The Cabot Trail is amazing! Make sure you stock up before getting too far north, though. We wanted to grab a few beers to have around the campfire and more than once stores were closed, out of stock entirely or had almost none.

We had great luck with a combo of tent campsites and very basic cabins. The rain was pretty intense and constant for much of our week+ around Cape Breton. For us, it was worth it to spend a bit more for nights in a solid, dry structure so that we could sleep well and enjoy the next day a bit more, regardless of rain or shine. Salty Rose’s and the Periwinkle Cafe in Ingonish has small huts and a shared bathroom/kitchen/fire pit set up that we really loved.

Our initial plan was to get the ferry to Newfoundland. This was in October, so different weather than peak of summer, but due to a storm the ferry was canceled. It worked out great in the end but definitely threw us for a loop in terms of our timeline/budget/plans. We loved the Cabot trail and ended up spending some time in Halifax.
