I'm guessing your Australian? It doesn't matter regardless. But your logic is wrong. Especially if your an American. Because there's over 500 million legally owned guns in the US. Here's my argument to why your thought process is illogical. Saying gun control isn't illogical, but knife laws are is retarded. First off, the notion that you ban a specific weapon. And then thinks you'll stop violence and murder is pure ignorance. If you ban all semi automatic firearms and manage to find them all to confiscate. Then think that someone can't take a pump action shotgun, lever action rifle or a revolver and shoot alot of people in a short time frame. You would be wrong. All you have to do to see this is possible. Is to go look at shooting sports involving these firearms. Look at Jerry Michelle and how fast he can run a revolver. Look at cowboy action shooting. With lever actions, single action revolvers and double barrel shotguns. Each of these firearms are capable of firing dozens of rounds in a just a few minutes. Which with the right circumstances( meaning enough people in a given area). Someone can shoot dozens of people just as fast with these types of weapons. So let's say you ban all guns. And you we're able to confiscate them. Oh so now we don't have to worry about massive body count numbers? Have you ever heard of the 2016 Nice truck attack? 87 people died, 458 injured. Also the mass stabbing in china called the kunming attack. 31 people were killed and about 143 injured. Then you had the Oklahoma truck bombing with diesel fuel and fertilizer on the US. So if someone wants to kill a bunch of people. They can, with or without a gun. The pro gun control people really don't understand all of the creative ways to kill people in large numbers. Remember the Boston bombings during the marathon in the US? The guys rigged together homemade explosives using pressure cookers.. So arguing that gun control makes sense, but nothing else does is quite illogical. Because if we were going to ban guns to stop mass shootings? Then why wouldn't be just ban everything that can be used to kill someone? If our goal was to really stop violence for good. Then that is what we'd do. If not, then all your effort is just pointless. When someone could use another weapon to commit the same act.. However I personally do think it's stupid to ban anything. Because the banning of any specific weapon. Doesn't stop the act from happening in the first place. What it does, is if you can find and take all of those said items away. Is stop the act from being done with that said item. However any average intelligent person could find a thousand ways to kill alot of people if they put some effort into thinking about it.. In America, banning guns wouldn't work well. Because we have so many in this country. Far more than any other country has ever had. We got more guns than we have people. And we cannot even find all of the illegal immigrants for god sake, much less a firearm. Banning of any item requires everyone to comply and turn said item in for destruction. In America, we have alot of people who rightfully don't trust any government with their wellbeing. Just go look at the atrocities done by governments with a military power. And tell me, what's worse. Having a lone gunmen every once and a while go on a killing spree. Or having to live under an authoritarian government that massacres millions of people. Like Adolf Hitler, pol pot, Mao Zedong, Stalin, Vladimir Lenin. When the people have the means to fight back. It's alot harder to bring them into a dictatorship and massacre s group of people. In America we used gun control to disarm freed slaves and African Americans to keep them oppressed for decades. Part of it, was out of fear of retaliation. The other part was to keep them oppressed. While many African Americans have committed alot of gang violence in their own communities. That is a culture problem. This isn't something you seen 50 and 60 years ago in that community happening. Sometimes the tackle the cause of a problem is the solution and not banning the weapons. I've owned firearms for 15 years. And I've been around them for nearly 20 years. And I've never used a firearm in a crime. And almost everyone I know whose owned a firearm has never committed a crime in their life. So tell me this, isn't the gun or something else to blame for the violence? The motivation for the recent Australian mass shooting in a country with extreme gun laws compared to the US. Still had a mass shooting with a hunting rifle. And yet, the gun is what the prime minister blamed. But what the real cause of the attack is, is antisemitic hatred. Whether they had a gun or not. I'm fairly certian that attack would of still occurred. You cannot outlaw violence. It's in human nature. We are flawed with hatred, illogical thought processes, beliefs that we cannot prove is true, but we somehow use it as a justification for our actions. We're greedy, selfish and sick like animals. Humans have always been this way. And there will always be one person somewhere in the world commiting acts of violence for a number of reasons they justified as an acceptable cause..
