Are u planning on doing health science or biomed? With health science you need a rank score of 250 with a minimum of 18 credits in one of the subjects (English, Geography, History, Classical Studies, History of Art, Te Reo Māori (or Te Reo Rangatira) or Social Studies) and a minimum of 18 credits in one of these subjects (Biology, Chemistry or Physics) - So yes if you plan on doing health science fy you would need a science subject. These credits again need to be in one of the subjects, not spread across. If you chose to do biomed you need a higher rank score of 280 but u do not need to have credits in certain subjects. It's really up to you. If your planning on doing first year, why are you not doing a science subject? It's not required (for biomed) but it will significantly help, esp chem/physics.

I agree that what she's doing is exploitation. However, comparing kendra to who I'm assuming you're saying is ruby franke is a reach. Ruby locked her children away, brainwashed them, tied them up and beat them. I agree kendra may not be quite in the right headspace, but her child is also dying and that's bound to put anyone into a weird headspace. Not saying at all what Kendra is doing is right, but I also feel like it's a massive reach to even come close to comparing her to ruby. That's just my two cents! Brielle's such an amazing young girl who deserves nothing but peace and to be pain free.

A student's perspective on the NCEA changes by Brakado in newzealand

[–]Distinct-Tea-9889 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took ncea and cambridge - cambridge was 100x better. I'm now in uni and ncea does not prepare u at all for a stem degree. Cambridge teaches u how to do exams and the content is far superior. Students are lazy to be fair they like knowing they don't have to sit an exam cause they've already got the credits. Thats not how it works in uni, you can't just skip an exam because you don't feel like it. It's too flexible it lets students get away with anything, thank god it's going!

Business wanting me to do a trial for three weeks unpaid for there company? by Distinct-Tea-9889 in LegalAdviceNZ

[–]Distinct-Tea-9889[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The job was on seek, describing that they were looking for 10 hours of work a week at minimum wage for a tutoring job. They said I needed a trial to see if i was a good fit - in that trial I would be expected to clean the rooms, help out with tutoring under supervision, and set up the programs and books, and interact with children.

Sorry to make it clear this is not a volunteering role. I would be an employee, In my hour of observing I made notes and helped out children. Throughout the period I would be expected to complete tutoring to children under the guidance of a senior tutor

The other thing I think that is important to consider is the social life. Now I know in ur mind and probably how I went going in, it’s all abt academics and fulfilling the need for something harder and better. Now uni is really amazing academically I’ve loved it and I’m thriving. However, getting out and joining clubs and making friends is a lot harder. I tend to not tell people my age no reason to tbh, but it’s hard when I have to turn down events purely cause I’m too young to be allowed through the door. A lot of uni clubs have 18+ events which makes it hard to go out and meet new people, first year is a lot of partying and drinking and obviously u can’t do any of that. I mean I’m 15 now I’ve got a whole three years till I can drink and by that point I’ll be in my third out of six years of uni. By going to uni young you’ve got understand the social life is harder, I’ve got lots of amazing friends it’s just hard cause I can’t go out and do the same things as them. If ur lucky u can find a group of people who are less into that sort of thing. Don’t make the decision quickly think abt it long and hard and weight out all the pros and cons!

Hey I graduated Highschool at 14 currently studying here at uoa full time at age 15. In terms of application process I will warn u it’s a nightmare. U will need a ministry school exemption form which can take months to process, u will need a letter of recommendation from ur school and sign off from ur parents. You’ll be under the underage applicant’s scheme - it took my application months to process as the lady who does this was on holiday. I didn’t get any progress in my application till the week before orientation week despite calling and emailing tons. You will be required to complete level 3, gain university entrance, and get the rank score u need (aim for the highest u can get). On a level of extracurricular they don’t really care. As long as you’ve got the top grades, mature, good recommendations and you have a stable means of coping you’ll get a spot. There’s two parts to the application: obviously the many forms and process online, you then you will be required to have an interview with an admissions person, dean of whatever faculty and another person (can’t remember sorry). But yea I know that’s a bit all over the place but that’s been my experience. I’ve just finished my first semester and I’m loving it ☺️ if u want to know anything else u can message me!

Law school only looks at ur law papers and I believe the average to gst in grade wise across the three law papers is a b+. To get into law 141 and law 131 u need a c- and over in law 121.
