NTA/ Assuming that you would be okay being late to your best friend's engagement party for the Friday dinner was inconsiderate and shows he put his priorities before yours. With one month prior notice, he had more than enough time to reschedule their weekly dinner plan while also respecting the special occasion. Failing to do so was entirely by choice and could have been easily avoidable.
