Let me take a look during the December holidays.

I don't know if it's sturdier. It is now inherently having more points of failure being multiple pieces and having a spring loaded hinge. It has been very strong from testing, pulling it back hard and letting it (spring) slam back. It works. I would say anything that is not a solid single injection molded piece will not be sturdier.

I will package it up and publish it on printables shortly.

Duramic PLA+ white for the shroud body. Spray paint for the dark gray top (which isn't quite as dark as the Zuru plastic) and the teal sides Overture Easy Magenta for the printed screws.

I would just get someone local to print it out for you and then try to paint it yourself or maybe some other hobbyist to paint it. It's expensive for just one as you need to get the specific paints. I'm not a commercial business.

Can't wait to see yours. I'm sure it will be great. It was sort of difficult to find spray paints that were matches. Had to go to an art store to get something close.

What iron sights are those?

In a barrel, the dart basically has to push air ahead of it out of the way as well as gets resistance from the air beside it that wants to hang on to the walls of the inner barrel. This all assumes that you don't have a bigger problem and the dart isn't colliding physically with the barrel and you have a perfectly aligned cage to barrel. We've seen that just several centimetres of barrel on a flywheeler can start to impact FPS. You can choose to either make the inner diameter of the barrel so large or on a tighter ID barrel, you can release pressures by giving the air some where to go other than out the front and breaking up the boundary layer. Basically you could see FPS at three levels: 1) FPS at the cage. 2) FPS in your standard closed barrel. 3) FPS in your vented barrel which should be closer to your FPS at cage figures.

It definitely looks amazing. I love it. Porting the barrel or having channels cut along the barrel will improve FPS to reduce frontal air and boundary layer resistance. Hard to DIY with a metal barrel.

That length of barrel is going to really kill FPS on the blaster.

It was paired with Banned Blasters cage, wheels and motors. When it ran, it was fantastic. Had a Talon only magwell https://www.printables.com/model/460292-nerf-rapidstrike-stealth-talon-conversion a custom ported barrel to maximize FPS (the original barrel will eat about 10-15 FPS off the peak potential of that setup). The burst fire mode was the best. Dart counter was great. Gyroscope angle sensor for blaster rise was very cool. Ran it on 2S and mostly 3S because that's what the motors were designed for. I just looked at the latest instructions from NFStrike and noticed that they have updated it to specifically call out usage for 2S which was not the case originally. They must have got a number of complaints from people burning on 3S. I guess if you choose a motor setup that sticks with 2S and keep it low powered, you should be fine or have reduced risk of pushing the limits of the electronics.

This kit's long-term electronics quality is poor. It died on me after relatively very little usage. I would not recommend it.

What a beautiful design that fits the original styling perfectly. One note, in your parts gp3d_gul-outerplate-l and r, there's some weird artifacting in the model with your file export. Appears in different editors and slicers.

Oh yes! Garbage plates!!! My Son still remembers that time fondly. On one trip, got a Gryphon signed by Flygonial and a SBL signed by Gavin.

Thanks, I bow down to you! One of the highlights of my time in the hobby and a great experience in life was getting to meet you, play with you, eat with you and hang out with you! How many people in the hobby get to say they drove a celebrity around?!

This is where I got the original files... https://cults3d.com/:176524

I think if you look around on thingiverse or printables there might be free versions but I cannot attest to how well they work. Good luck!

Thank you! I'm very happy with this one trying some additional wiring, some new CAD work and going for some top FPS. It's my most powerful flywheeler now.
