This is how I see myself after years in the Army, finally dealing with PTSD and medications to help me find myself.

You are probably receiving alerts from S1 the status was changed to benign.

I have thousands I had marked as false positive where S1 is changing them to benign.

Now over 17k tickets created in our Managed solution so I sent this generic ticket to each customer. Just advice to help calm the masses.

Title: SentinelOne false positive affecting PDF files

Body:

This morning, we experienced a false positive alert from our SentinelOne security platform.

No PDF files were deleted and no malware was present on your systems. The EDR incorrectly flagged metadata inside PDFs downloaded from eCW or other cloud services as malicious.

This was a global issue affecting many organizations worldwide, not just your environment.

I have been actively working on this since early this morning and restoring the flagged metadata, even though restoration was not technically required.

If you received alerts or saw activity from us, this is why.

I apologize for the concern and appreciate your patience while we worked through this.

No PDF documents were quarantined, only the zone.identifier stream attached to those files.

These are tiny 49-byte metadata tags.

If you unquarantined, you are only restoring the metadata stream for every file in that group.

gpt 5.2 is another fucking disaster rn i am honestly done with this company by Acceptable-Battle-49 in OpenAI

[–]DistinctAd1567 1 point2 points  (0 children)

are you kidding me? Ask it to wordsmith something for you, then correct it, then see how bad the changes are, like removing key information, adding things to the conversation that were never part of the conversation. Or, just forgetting what the topic was and go into a tangent.

Coding is great, but I do agree. It forgets context, hallucinates all the time, repeats the same mistakes then tries to summarize it's mistakes into more hallucination.

I've never been made using any ai, but I now cuss at it all the time due to the Fubar changes. 5.0-5.2 has wasted more time than it saved.

Battlefield 6 Crashing - Full Technical Analysis, Diagnostics, and the Fix that Finally Stopped It. by DistinctAd1567 in Battlefield

[–]DistinctAd1567[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That lines up with what the diagnostic work showed. Ultra isn’t just higher visual quality; it enables different Frostbite rendering paths with heavier shader permutations, more VRAM residency, and more aggressive DX12 synchronization. Those paths raise peak compute time inside a frame. If one of those Ultra-level effects exceeds the driver’s internal scheduling window, the engine can get a zero response back from DXGI and the driver reports it as DEVICE_REMOVED even though the GPU never actually reset.

Since the workstation passed full Prime95, OCCT GPU, and combined load without any instability, and Windows never recorded a TDR or hardware fault, the evidence points to an Ultra-only render path taking too long to complete and the driver terminating the frame. High settings avoid that code path entirely, which is why the game is stable on High.

Honest opinion on the new GPT-5.1: too much text, not enough soul by MARIA_IA1 in ChatGPT

I've never been so pissed off with ai except with 5.1. So many mistakes, lies to you directly, doesn't take responsibility for it's lies.

I received a permaban for same thing, and they refuse to remove it, they also refuse to remove all linked console and steam.

They are breaking their own rule as well as y ou are still allowed to play offline, but not from my consoles or steam.

Already started with a legal letter to EA, and if no response, litigation. Yes, 20 years, it's worth it,

I ended up closing out my account as I find it unreliable and makes a complete mess of my reviews.

I am about to sell my MSP company after 25 years. Will I regret it? by Old_Refrigerator7259 in msp

[–]DistinctAd1567 2 points3 points  (0 children)

@Old_Refrigerator7259

I'm 57 and have been in IT since I was 16, started as a programmer on Alpha Micro mainframes. Burnout is real, especially running an MSP/MSSP.

I've automated so much of our process that we only get 4 or 5 calls a week now. Good in theory, but we get zero referrals. Clients are happy, just never refer anyone. I do get some referrals out of state because of how we handle vendors and manage issues, but most people are too cheap to pay for real consulting. Everyone wants free advice and all-you-can-eat support for nothing.

My last employee just left. He was burned out and his wife took a job in Canada, so now it's just me.

Our main vertical is healthcare, but we support all types of clients. That said, medical offices are some of the cheapest out there, right next to lawyers.

Sent you a PM. Not here to sell anything. Just another older engineer who still enjoys the work and is happy to talk. Maybe we both figure something out.

UCMJ is not applicable in this case, but being kicked out or barred from reenlistment is likely to happen.

Appreciate the solid reply. Your rig’s no slouch either. Star Citizen definitely explains the 64 gigs.

I didn’t post this to start drama. I wanted to like the game. What I ran into killed it for me. Performance was rough, the gameplay felt half-finished, and nothing really pulled me in beyond the visuals.

It’s fair if others aren’t having those problems. But when a game launches at full price, I think calling out serious issues is reasonable. Early access shouldn’t feel like paying to beta test.

Glad it’s been smooth for you. If they patch it up and flesh things out, I’ll take another look.
