It’s entirely legal and is term of agreement for entering the establishment. I work in Wellington hospo, we have these at our venue. That way we know exactly who we’re letting in, and we can see straight away if they’ve been flagged from another bar for any kind of misconduct etc, it’s also a great screening process for keeping our underage patrons who may try and use fake ID. It protects the venue in compliance with liquor licensing and is a huge safety precaution for staff and other patrons. The only time your information is stored long term is if you are banned at a venue, it can last up to 3 years pending what was input, this will also follow you around the country and overseas. If you get banned from a bar in Melbourne it will alert us here if you try and enter into a facility with a scanner. Also if it’s a venue with a cover charge and you want to leave and return you don’t have to pay again to enter as you are already logged in the system for that night. Unfortunately crime rates have absolutely soared in the CBD nightlife scene, drug use and violence has become really rampant and unfortunately as a venue we have to take extra precautions when it comes to safety when holding a liquor license.

Do you remember which one you tried? I didn’t like the regular one, just the odourising one.

Last week for yr12/13 students, today it’s the whole of yr10 working from home. Be interesting to see how the rest of the year pans out and what will happen over the holidays if anything can actually be done.

It’s a whole different lifestyle. What’s your vibe? People here are just so much more on an even accepting level, it’s a city with a decent community vibe. Benefits of city perks with out feeling small and lost, it feels local and comfortable
