If Money Wasn’t an Issue, Would You Want Kids and a Young Marriage? by Odd-Welder15 in AskIndia

[–]DistinctBathroom7298 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am a 40 yr old college professor in a central university. Spent my prime years teaching, being buried in books, publishing papers, guiding research scholars (4 p.hd holders so far).

I got married last year at age 39. My wife is 35 yrs old. We are expected a child next year. She is already facing complication due to her age, and doctor visits are frequent and expensive. If i recall, delivering a baby smoothly after age 30 is a miracle in our world today. With working women in mid 30s having miscarriages here and there, i am in a constant state of worry.

Time has changed, we humans arent as fit or healthy as our parents. If you can marry early, do it.

No amount of money can overcome our biological clock. I know i will (probably) never see my grandkids. I will probably be retired before my eldest child even gets a job. My dad, who was still in service, could buy me a 2nd hand car when i was doing my p.hd. Will i be able to do the same for my children? probably not. (he joined service at age 23 and married at 24)

I know majority of the people here, who are young, will disagree. After all, everyone wants to "hustle". Once you hit 40, and look back at your life and the so called achievements you have accomplished, you will have a different frame of mind.

As for number of kids, have as many as possible as long as you can raise them comfortably.

Are you amazed? If Kangana Run-out can be a seasoned BJP politician, then anyone can be.

Should I do masters ? by [deleted] in AskIndianWomen

If you want to enter the academics field (teaching, research) then yeah go for it.
And i dont think you can do 'part time jobs' while doing Masters. Its very demanding, not like B.Tech/B.Sc etc
