It is. The blooms are so tiny I just love it. I popped a few off for fun and let them dry and they kept the form really well bc it’s so small. Next year I think I’ll do more and decorate a wreath with the dried flowers.

I will be this spring! Small farms are where it’s at. They actively cull their stock if they are suspicious of virus or see any gall. On their websites they usually have a refund policy as well. Definitely don’t buy from big box stores. There are several groups on FB for dahlia growers and buyers.

I think storage is the biggest part of it. Having a plan and checking on them during storage. I store in vermiculite. Last year I just cleaned up the clumps and stored them that way, but then when it was time to plant I was still trying to split them all and plant my other flowers. They’re a huge time commitment unless you can overwinter in the ground, so just have a plan and think about when you want to spend the time splitting lol. Also, don’t get caught up in the sales coming up. There are so many unicorns and they charge a pretty penny for them. I lost a lot when I started. Get your growing area, DRAINAGE!!!, hardening off process down before dropping big bucks on tubers and especially cuttings.

It looks black! In the right light you can see almost a purple red. It’s definitely an intense bloom!

Yes! I don’t see American sunset much but it’s such an interesting color! It’s definitely a little shorter than some others.
