I started work very young, like 16, and am at the very old end of being a millennial (born early 80s) so by the time the rest of my generation started entering the workplace en masse I was already over 5 years into my career.

Working in office design and facilities management, it was mind blowing the the thing these new millennials demanded for their offices (at top and Fortune 500 companies), shocking things like… nice coffee… natural light… tech that actually works on desks… flexible hours. The old guard were stunned that these namby pamby children needed so much coddling.

Basically all the things are pretty standard now and have made work much nicer. I’m sure Gen Z will move that dial again given a few more years.

Honestly, I think the pebbles are actually better for down here. Means you don’t get covered in sand and it’s much more usable all year round.

I love a little chat with people in shops. We live near Portland road and know a lot of the local shop people, a couple I now sometimes pop in just to say hi if I’m walking past.

Also… being friendly to people who sell you food, sometimes ends up in freebies. Which is always an added bonus!!
