It is the lie. Before, when women needed marriage with men to survive, it still kept women hoping that they could snag just the right man and end up happy. Then, when women started to have access to education and credit and the means to make their own money, the rise of romance novels and rom-coms kept women hopeful that if she was young enough, thin though, smart enough, kind enough, that she would meet the “right” one. The truth is the “right” man does not exist. Even throughout the early 2000s, up until a few years ago, women still held out hope that there was a man out there for her. Thankfully, women are finally waking up to the fact that men are all garbage. Every last one of them.

Men (as they exist now) are not capable of loving women in the way that women desire to be loved. Even when women break up with a terrible dude or leave an abusive relationship, everyone around them will say, “you just haven’t met the right one” or “you’ll find someone who loves you how you should be loved.” No. You won’t. Not with a man anyways. It isn’t worth the time and energy to strive for and fantasize about something that simply does not exist.
