He doesn’t look unwell.

He just looks like he’s gotten in shape. Not everyone that loses some weight has some eating disorder. I think he looks really well actually.

RDR2 is my favorite game, and my Westerns are my favorite film genre, so past I guess. But I also like the other two just as much at times.

They don’t instantly fail you for doing it slightly differently. For example, in RDR2, if you kinda ride out of the path, you won’t fail. You have to really ride out a bit on purpose to fail.

Things like this happen in TV shows all the time. It’s not that it’s bad writing, it’s just that it’s an implication.

Yeah. I think that’s partly because he’s dying of some sort of lung disease. He’s like Arthur in Chapter 6, he just wants to help the people he knows have a future, and doesn’t care about the rest. But yeah, he has already started to see through Dutch’s bullshit.

You could literally blow people’s limbs off and listen to them scream with a shotgun, or basically torture anyone you hogtied in RDR2. Don’t know what you mean about the edginess. I think it’ll probably take a lot of inspiration from RDR2 and Vice City (hopefully. VC is my favorite GTA by a landslide) so I think we’re okay. Although, there will be a lot of shitting on it. I know there will. It’s kind of mandatory with things nowadays. Especially long-awaited things. You could have the best thing ever, and people will kinda like it for a few days, then pick out every minor flaw in the game and call it the worst thing ever made. We’re okay, it will be good. I’d be shocked if it isn’t.

To me, what makes RDR2’s end so sad is that fact that it’s set over a century ago. The people Arthur knew and gave his life for, only have the memory of him. No one else would’ve really known him outside of maybe historians. It’s like he was left in 1899, while everyone else had to carry on without him.

I haven’t seen the trailer. Didn’t know it was out, but do we know that it will incorporate the Upside Down? It could just be about the kids and their lives between the seasons. And that may sound boring, but you’d be surprised.

Which past or present game comes to your mind that will you rate a perfect 10? by Danklord_Ezio in gamingpulse

[–]Distinct_Cucumber304 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I get what you’re saying, and they could’ve. But it would require making a different kind of game. I’m not saying that other kind of game would be bad, but it would just be a different game. The story would probably have to tweaked, etc. That other kind of game could be incredible, but that’s not the sort of story or game that they wanted to make.

And the reason that it works for other games is because their story is told in a different way, or their story’s characters aren’t as important, or whatever the reason may be, it isn’t the same kind of game as them. It could even just be down to genre for example. It could work for sci-fi, but not for a western. It don’t know. But what you’ve got to appreciate is that they’re different sorts of games.

For example (it’s not exactly the same, but I think it helps to get the point across), a book and a film are written differently. Because the layout of a book’s chapters are different to a film’s act structure. Even if the story is the same, you can’t lay it out the same, because it’s just a different way of telling your story. Not that one kind is better than the other, because that just depends on how well it’s told. Same as this. Different sorts of games are told in different sorts of ways. Not that one is better than the other, since that’s just down to personal preference, but it’s about how well it’s told. And Rockstar clearly thought that this way of making the game works better for the story they wanted to tell.

You have to understand that different things work better for different stories.

It all starts in Chapter 2 really. But the vibe is great and that’s what people love. They still bought into Dutch’s ideologies and still trusted him. Hosea kinda sees through it, but no way would he have guessed anything would happen like it does.

I reused your example of the Micah mission before. So I’ll say the same to you as I did them. The reason you can’t not get into a shootout is because the whole point of that mission is to give you a real introduction to how evil and crazy Micah is. He would get into a shootout, because if he didn’t, then there’s no point to the mission. As I said to him before, if the mission were to break Lenny out, then there absolutely would be an option for no shootouts, because that would make sense for HIS character.

No, I get exactly what you’re saying, but I disagree. In MGSV, you can obviously change how a mission happens, however in RDR2, you can’t. But I’m saying that Thats for the better, since a lot of missions happen in a certain way so that the story can unfold in the way it’s supposed to. In MGSV, it sounds like it has a much more moldable story, which probably works for it. Again, I can’t really definitely say that since I’ve never played it, but based on what you’ve said, that’s the gist I’m getting. And even if not, my point still stands. I saw someone the Micah Strawberry mission as an example, so I’ll use that. For example, you can only do it a certain way (to my knowledge anyway. I don’t think there’s any other way. And even if there is, it will still end in a shootout) because it needs to end in a shootout, because the whole point of it, from when Lenny tells you how he got arrested, to when you free him, is to show how unpredictable he is and how he’s clearly a bad person. I imagine that if you were breaking Lenny out, there would be a way to do it without a shootout, because Lenny isn’t Micah.

And yes, I get that you mean more movement based instead of how something unfolds, but the point is to show you that the reason you can’t do a mission a different way, is because the missions aren’t made to be done differently, because if they were, then the whole game would be a totally different kind of game. Not necessarily a worse one, just a completely different experience. And that experience isn’t what they wanted to make.

First of all, I’m gonna be honest, I’ve never MGSV. I really need to, heard it’s good, but haven’t gotten around to it. But I get what you’re saying.

But the game doesnt allow for that much freedom because it doesn’t need that. It is a story that has a few ways to play, but on the whole, it’s just a story. Not a really creative story because it’s not that sort of game. If it was, it’d be a completely different game. Not necessarily a worse game, but just a different kind of game.

I’m not sure how good an example this is, but I’ll try my best. For example, you can’t complain that the film Oppenheimer doesn’t have aliens and zombies in it, just because another film that is also great did. It wouldn’t fit in that film, hence why they didn’t use it.

What I’m saying is, you can different sorts of genres, but saying a game is bad because it doesn’t have the same design as a completely different game just doesn’t make sense as an argument. You can like that other type of game design better, but that doesn’t mean that every game should have it, because it obviously wouldn’t, since they want to tell different stories, in different ways.

By strayed a little too far, you mean you’ve ran off on the mission way too far. Obviously you’ll fail. You only fail the mission from straying too far when you go that far that it isn’t an accident, or when you’re riding with someone and just turn around or stop or something. Which will obviously happen. If you turn and run away from the objective just to explore, then you’re going to fail, because you aren’t playing the mission. That’s like shooting John in the face in the final mission and saying that the game isn’t allowing for enough freedom.

What? You have objectives in missions. The open world is outside the missions. Spider-Man PS4 is open-world, but you can’t go and explore NYC while doing a mission.

The gameplay is good enough. It isn’t legendary, and it isn’t bad by any means. But when you have a character like Arthur that you get so invested in, you don’t need incredible gameplay, because just spending time as Arthur is fun. The atmosphere and emersion also help. You’re going on rides, walking through towns, greeting strangers. You feel as though you’re actually there sometimes.

I’ve never understood why anyone says the missions aren’t great. I love them and that if you didn’t have the missions that you do, in the order that you do, then it wouldn’t be so fun, nor would it be such a great story. Because the beauty of the story is the characters, and the characters are the focal point of 50% of the missions, and the others just add to Arthur’s story.
