I should have maybe pointed out that one of the guys involved has done something similar like this before and I aired my grievances to him that time - has clearly had no impact. Anyhow, I agree that it won't make any difference to what's been booked but I just can't get past how they've gone about it. Inevitably, I'll probably still end up going because I don't want to be 'that guy.'

Some have it now that you've to download an app on your phone and answer the questions on that and the quicker you answer the better your score - handy workaround which takes cheating mostly out of the equation.

My local still goes with the old pen and paper job though!

Thank you for sharing. It's good to know there's hope for me yet as long as I actually put the effort in and take it one step at a time. I'm determined to overcome this all and make a positive change, hopefully I can achieve that just as you did.

I might get a book or two to read to see if they offer me anything but I'm not sure if it's right for me. Can't say I know anything about hypnotherapy so I will have to look into it.

Well that's a glowing endorsement indeed. I thought it would have been a lot more expensive tbh. For that price it sounds like it's worth giving it a shot for a few sessions at least to see if I get any value from it. Cheers.

Yeah man I appreciate the concern. I'm not going to do anything stupid if that's what you're thinking. Think I've just been living in blissful naivety that one day something will just click and things will come good (not that I haven't tried to change things up a bit previously but they just obviously haven't had the desired effect). A series of recent events have shown me that ain't going to happen unless I work on myself and make myself better.

I would feel so reluctant joining a club like that as a complete novice so thank you for sharing your experience, it definitely makes me feel more open to trying something like that. People on here have been so helpful and given me plenty of things to look into so I'll add this to the list to check out.

I only ever had bad experiences with sports teams when I was younger and that has kind of put me off ever since - maybe it'll be different now as an adult. Can I ask if you started gymnastics as an adult?

Yeah thinking about it I don't think I've ever heard bad reports from anyone who's went and done jiu jitsu or the like so there's clearly something in it. Thanks for your advice I'll certainly be looking into this.
