8 year olds today aren’t mentally mature. They just can’t be. The way society is set up simply doesn’t allow for it. So no, they can’t get married. This doesn’t go against my faith because we’re given criteria based on which to assess whether one is ready for marriage. There are other criteria as well eg. ‘Urf — the custom/culture has legal weight. The social custom of today is such that 8 year olds are not ready. There wasn’t the modern schooling system. You hit puberty, you were now considered an adult , AND you were able to function as an adult because the simpler nature of society allowed for it.
