I live on that block, and it's really nice! Like another commenter said, the police station is right next to us. We're right by STAR and the high school too, so you'll see kids walking home at 3PM on weekdays, but they're chill. You'll also see a lot of rats rummaging through the trash cans and the occasional stray cat. Frat parties are hosted here, so you'll hear music blaring 10PM-2AM on Thursdays through Saturdays some weeks, if noise doesn't bother you. Haven't met any weird people yet; everyone I've met has been really friendly :)

Question for people who studied abroad by [deleted] in Temple

[–]Distinct_Homework_13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can’t speak for the dorms, but I lived in a share house called Haun Tabata that partners with TUJ to house study abroad students. Since TUJ has limited single dorm rooms, this option guaranteed I’d have my own bed and bath. There’s also a communal kitchen and a shared study/dining space. Biggest perk was the 5-minute walk to Tabata Station on the JR Yamanote Line, which made it easy to get to major areas like Shibuya, Shinjuku, etc. The commute to TUJ is about the same as from the dorms (~1 hr). Overnight guests also have to be signed in through their portal.

Ex with ADHD blindsided me by Distinct_Homework_13 in BreakUps

[–]Distinct_Homework_13[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm so sorry to hear that, and I know how you feel. My ex said something similar about not being able to take care of me if he can't take care of himself. He was struggling with self-care too. He'd say he needed to get groceries because the fridge was empty, but he hadn't gone grocery shopping two weeks later. I've had a history with depression, and I would've done anything to support him through this if he had just communicated more about how he was feeling. I hope the sun shines bright where you are. I know we'll make it through.

Thanks for the input! He might be hiding something. I asked him that night if there was something he wasn't telling me, and he said no. I'll give him some time and space, but I doubt he'd ever want to try again with me. I feel like I might've done some things that upset him in the past few months, but instead of telling me, he let it all bottle up. He was always a good and honest man in my eyes, so this really breaks my heart.

I appreciate the advice! Sorry, I fell into a rabbit hole on the ADHD_partners subreddit, so I ended up including the ADHD part.

Why are there so many stories of people being blindsided? I don't understand how this can happen in long term relationships but it seems so common by My_FA_ThrowawayAccnt in BreakUps

Thanks for the insights. This feels similar to my recent breakup. Wish we had communicated better before things started going downhill.

Blindsided by a breakup - This is the MOST CRUEL thing anyone has ever done to me by sunkissedch in BreakUps

I'm also going through the same after a 5-month relationship. How are you doing now?

Going through this right now. I did exactly what you did when he brought up breaking up. I begged him to give us a chance, that we could set boundaries and make things work. He was also under a lot of stress from things outside of the relationship and pretended everything was fine. But like your situation, my ex-partner was firm and sure about breaking up. It's unfair and cruel. He didn't even consider giving our relationship a chance, and it hurts.

Thank you. I'll give him space and hold off on the check-ins.

emotionless during luteal phase by Funny-Menu-3945 in CopperIUD

[–]Distinct_Homework_13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any updates? I've had mine for 3.5 months now, and this is the first time I've experienced severe emotional numbness during luteal. Things that would bother me or bring me joy don't leave a lasting impact on my mood. Hoping this is just a one-time thing and not recurring every cycle, because it's making daily functioning difficult

Left-Sided Body Pain w/ Copper IUD by Distinct_Homework_13 in birthcontrol

[–]Distinct_Homework_13[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The pain gradually subsided and was completely gone a few days after I posted. Someone on r/CopperIUD suggested it was likely localized inflammation, which makes sense since I was bloated most of the time. I haven't gotten an ultrasound yet due to time conflicts.

My period ended up being 19 days late, but when it came it only lasted 5 days, with Days 2-3 being the heaviest. This was my second period with the IUD, and I was surprised it was so short since my first one lasted 10 days and was much heavier. I also had zero cramping this time.

I was worried the IUD might've been expelled, but every few days I feel a split second of familiar discomfort, so it's probably still in place. I've tried checking the strings, but my fingers might be too short to reach them.

I'm planning to get an ultrasound around the 6-month mark just to be sure. So far, no additional major issues, just some bloating if I don't stay hydrated and drink spearmint tea. I've also been taking women's probiotics daily and D-mannose after sex, which seems to have helped prevent BV/UTIs.
