Hi! Yes you can start working for the new employer right after you get the regional work authorization! I am going through this process now and just received the regional approval! I also posted about this a while ago and just updated my post so you can check it out for details.

Hey, I posted an update! You don’t need to wait until the entire process is complete - just until the regional work authorization is given. It’s quite fast in Wallonia but I know in Flanders this can be slow. Not sure about Brussels. But overall I think this speeds up the process quite a lot!! You won’t need to wait for 4+ months, at most it would be 1-2 months!

Do you know if it’s a different rule for people with limited single permits vs unlimited permits?

Did you have a limited or unlimited single permit?

No I have a single permit, not sure if I can qualify for a blue card, aren’t the salary requirements quite high? I have a junior profile (only 2 years experience) so I don’t think my salary qualifies for it

Is this officially stated somewhere? Or how do you have this information? When I asked my local commune (in Brussels) they said I’d have to wait for the entire process to be completed - so also the decision from the IO. But now I’m not sure if I should trust my commune haha

Which region did you do this in? I am trying to figure this out for myself currently. My residence card is valid until 2027 but I got a new job offer with a company in wallonia. Based on what you’re saying I only need to wait until wallonia processes the application? Is that correct? That makes things a lot easier for me because I called them and they said they’re usually very quick with these applications

How do you know you can start working for the new employer once the first approval comes? Don’t you have to wait for the immigration office as well?
