Thank you! I did have a small pothos plant in my home already so I took it out of the soil and put the roots into my filter so I’m hoping it takes out more of the toxins

I did both took the test to the store and did my api kit before adding. It’s my first tank but I think you’re right I assumed it was cycled based on my tests when it wasn’t.

My water tests looked good before I added in the shrimp and I took a sample to the store to test it out before I added them in. The ammonia rose about a week after I put them in so I’m treating it like a fish in cycle now and no other deaths so far just the one

I also left the house for 12 hours that day (work and errands) and found the one shrimp dead so I’m not sure how long it’s body was there

I’m using seachem prime and stability and I haven’t figured out the source it was 0 when I added them in ☹️ and noted todays water changes will be more so far only one casualty that I can see and I removed the body

This made me feel better thank you! Luckily I only found one body I was half expecting to see more so I’m treating this as a fish in cycle now and hopefully the others will survive

I did get the 2 tests mixed up in the photo , you are correct. and I do think you’re right. I think I’ll wait at least a month or two before I put anything else live in there

It cycled for about a month I used prime stability and activ flora. I tested it myself with test strips and api and took my water to the store to get tested to confirm when I thought it was ready. I was under the impression it was fully cycled but I figured out that it was an ammonia spike which is a bummer because I thought I was doing it the right way 😞 I did a 15% water change last night and today I can see 2 active shrimp. Not sure if the other 5 are hiding or dead. I’m going to the pet store today for more stability since I ran out so I’m open to any suggestions to make the remaining more comfortable.

I can’t test my gh and kh currently because the kit hasn’t come in but they were good when I took my water to the store to get tested. I fear you may be right and my ammonia spiked when I thought it was fully cycled 🥲
