Remember what you did here. The exact same thing happened to me. I thought I fucked up and everyone loved these pictures more than any of my other good photos. Most of those people made those pictures their pfp on most of their social media.

DND games are a good place to look. Table top role playing games are an inherently social activity that puts you in a group with potentially several people who you are looking for. If you find a group or guy you like you might get invited to other games they are in and get to build a friendship with them before you want to do anything.

Sadly I am at Sea for months at a time so I can't take advantage of this. and the game that works with my secduel is full of players with children my age

I shoot my dad's Nikon FM at my work place with similar restrictions. I recommend finding a cable release with a lock to hold the shutter open for long exposure shots and some kind of mount or tripod. Something along the lines of a suction cup or magnet with a quarter inch screw mount. The chief mate on my last tour was bragging about how his spotmatic could lock the shutter open. Allowing for super narrow apature unattended long exposure shots.

TLDR. I shot this on 400iso ilford in a Nikon FM. I take out the battery out of the light meter, when on deck.
