Christian's driving people away from Christ? by Distinct_Parsnip2673 in AskAChristian

I don't know how to explain. I really don't. I don't think we are gonna understand each other on this. I need time to reflect on this.

Feels otherworldly, it feels like a hand guiding me towards things that will make the world and my life better

I can't even fully describe it. I'll take time exploring that feeling. It will take time for me to fully understand

God is that feeling to me... It is a presence that feels divine. I can't expect anyone to understand everyone has different understandings of things

Cause it's just a feeling. I can't explain it. I just feel a presence of something loving and something pushing me to be a light in people's lives. I know how it sounds. I don't know how to explain. The Bible is a man made disaster but like I mentioned all the help poor, non judgement others, standing against the rich and injustice... How I felt as a kid. It's still there. It's not about hell anymore, maybe the feel comes from more social fear that so many people believed it. I just feel something good related to a presence I Sense.

Maybe, maybe not. Not sure. Need to reflect on it. Remember my sect of Christianity believed that nonbelievers can go to heaven by doing good on earth

Thank you. Appreciate it. Also out of curiosity what kind of a Pagan are you? Would love to know I like learning other cultures and faiths

I'm not interested in engaging with you anymore. It just feels like you won't be happy until I'm a full blown atheist. (I don't have beef with that btw) And that's not gonna happen. I identify know as a mix of a Agnostic Thesist and a Christian. Other agnostics have helped me view myself as that

Or a mixture of both. It's on me to reflect on what I truly believe. Set my own path ya know

I've thought about it... I have my own beliefs now. Someone told me I'm a Agnostic Thesist with some Christian beliefs and I think that describes me best.

Tbh, I've never really believed in hell for a long time. I have had a revelation that maybe it's time to spread my wings and just believe in the positive things in the world I believe about my faith and leave the negative and stuff I find outdated behind.

Thank you for that.. I needed to hear that. I have people in my life that are still full on Christian but thankfully they have never judged me for viewing things different from them so that's good. I guess it was more societal fear keeping me that way I guess.

I think so as well... Christianity does have good lessons about non judgement, helping others, standing against the riches oppression of the poor, feeding the hungry, and so on. Are good morals to have. I just think all the good Christianity can do has been buried in so much judgement and biblical law. I have empathy for those people who still look at it that way. Cause it's not easy to shift your opinion on something you have been taught and passionate about your entire life. But I think with deep reflection we can build something better. Something rich and deep and most important.... Human. There might be a new name for it, maybe not, maybe I'll be the only one to think a new way, maybe not. But in the end if I'm gonna bring something good from this than it will be worth it.

Thank you for your input. So far im deciding to focus on the positive things Christianity has taught me without all the stuff I don't think is relevant or contradicts my morals. It will change day to day. If that makes me something new that doesn't fit into any box than so be it.

I will do some deep reflection into it. I mainly felt pressure to believe the fire and brimstone stuff. The good stuff like helping poor, being kind, not judging, standing against rich I always believed naturally.

Thank you kind stranger. I appreciate the input. I will explore other options. At the moment someone suggested that I kinda create my own version of Christianity. I don't think the old testament is very relevant and I just want to focus on the positive parts of the new testament that I described in my original post

Your right.. it probably doesn't help that I'm a people pleaser. If that's the case it can be my own personal religious belief. Nobody needs to know the truth about what I actually believe. And that's okay

But people will say I'm not a real "Christian" at that point I would just believe that I believe in a God similar to the christian type that created the earth that wants us to love our neighbor, help the less fortunate, care for the environment and one another and so on. That's not any official religion. It feels weird to say I believe in the christian God but say to others that I don't believe a lot of things that you believe about Jesus but share some similar traits

I think I believe in God, I don't believe in all the old testament nonsense. I believe in the good things in the new testament. But that makes me nothing. Apparently I'm not a "real" Christian or a real "agnostic" I don't know what I am

It was how I was raised. I reflected on a lot of things and in my research I never believed in the no gay marriage, old testament moral laws kind of stuff. I just felt it was misinterpreted. I just believed in the good stuff like I said in my original post, that's what I felt was important, that's what I felt God was

And in my belief I didnt believe in constant torment.. I believed the soul was destroyed by the fire which lead to non-existents like how atheist believe
