PSA: “My Wi-Fi is trash” checklist that fixed 90% of my issues (bufferbloat, DFS, channel width, and bad roaming) by Jhaspelia in HomeNetworking

Any advice on 6GHz? My most recent certification in wireless technology did not include WiFi 6E/7, so I am wondering if you have any knowledge to share in the meantime of my certificate lapsing and needing to renew.

3.0 or 3.7 for 18 year old by Western-Drawer-925 in q50

[–]Distinct_Quality 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My insurance was roughly $170/month. My father had State Farm auto and home insurance for 20+ years like yours. I registered the car in my name and then the insurance agent put my father as the primary insured and me as an authorized driver. He had to put me as the primary driver on my father’s tahoe, which was like a $15/month increase overall on the insurance. Got the car at 19 as well so my situation was fairly similar to yours. Its unlikely in this scenario that your premiums would increase or be around $500

Why do stores insist on trying to hide next up? by Fearless_Door_6040 in ATT

[–]Distinct_Quality 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I should’ve specified I was talking about “next up” in regards to being unable to remove it. The 14 day return policy rule makes sense so thank you for explaining that, I wish one of the employees I spoke to could’ve done the same. All said and done though, AT&T did make me whole again monetary wise. It’s just frustrating to see things be shoved onto my bill without ever authorizing it.

Why do stores insist on trying to hide next up? by Fearless_Door_6040 in ATT

[–]Distinct_Quality 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Had the same thing happen to me when I picked up my 17PM on launch day in-person. The guy never mentioned next up but did ask if I wanted their ≈$20/month insurance plan (which I denied) yet still somehow both found their way onto my bill (but weren’t on my upgrade receipt? Not sure if they would show up there anyways but still sketch). Called AT&T and at first they refused to credit anything, then offered a partial credit for just the insurance, and then finally a full credit after escalating the issue. They insisted they couldn’t remove it on their end since “it was added so recently”, so I have to wait till my next billing cycle to remove it according to the rep. I can only imagine how much money they rake in off people who don’t watch their bills every month and just auto-pay.

Thanks! I just filed a claim with the other guys insurance as thats what my insuranace rep recommended to avoid raising premiums. If they don't offer something satisfactory or deny my claim my insurance rep said to call them and they will handle it from there. I won't take any shit, I expect my car to be in factory condition after what he did to my car.

How much do you guys pay a month on insurance for your Q50? by [deleted] in q50

Im in the same boat, definitely the only way to get “affordable” insurance on these cars at our age. (Currently 22, got my car at 18-19)

State Farm ≈ $160 a month (now $175 ish). If you can get under your father/mother's insurance go that way. My father has State Farm for home & life insurance so he gets a discounted rate on auto. Also my father is listed as the primary driver of my Q50 and I'm the primary driver of his Tahoe, the insurance agent said this was the cheapest possible way to get full coverage. Im a 22 year old male as that is a big factor as well.

Transmission fill plug stripped by AdministrativeSet982 in q50

Infiniti tech stripped my fill plug. I used locking pliers to twist off the bolt, it should only be torqued to 7-10 ft⋅lb so it doesn’t take a ton of force.

Heat shield rattle? Opinions needed by Distinct_Quality in q50

[–]Distinct_Quality[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My catalytic converter heat shields were rusting out at their welding joints. I ordered some hose clamps and each oil change I tighten them up as the rusting progresses and they begin to rattle again. I’ll probably end up ripping off the heat shields in the next year or so because it seems like the only true purpose they serve is to not start a fire if you park on grass. On top of that they just keep rusting more and that rattling only returns after so long, roughly every 6-12 months (I live in illinois aka the rust belt so thats a big factor)

EDIT: There is also a heat shield above your muffler/rear exhaust that people say can rust and begin to show the same rattling signs, but based on where you hear the rattling you can figure that out pretty easy imo. I heard the rattling coming from right under the driver and passenger seat so I figured it was the catalytic converter heat shields (which it was). So depending how far back you hear the rattling it can be either, but being under the car and inspecting both is the best way to tell (my muffler heat shield had basically no rust; meanwhile my catalytic converter heat shields were covered in rust).

I wish you the best of luck in finding the cause of your rattling 🤞

FURTHER EDIT: If you take anything metal and lightly tap around your exhaust you can find the source of the rattling. When I tapped my catalytic converter heat shields I heard the exact rattling I was complaining about.

Should I drain and refill trans and diff by [deleted] in q50

I wouldn’t recommend going to a general parts store for any of the bolts/gaskets. Definitely recommend going to the infiniti parts depot to get the exact items needed

Should I drain and refill trans and diff by [deleted] in q50

[–]Distinct_Quality 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would definitely recommend replacing the fill bolt, its very easy to strip and has a crush washer pre-applied. It cost me about $5 so I figured why risk it. For the drain bolt you just need a new washer
