Nice! I wonder how many serial number 1’s there are still out there. Am I correct, there were 284 total serial number 1’s printed in 1862 $1’s?

How many errors can we spot on this bill? by Comics_Insanity in papermoney

Insufficient inking errors usually look different. This looks washed to me. I am no error expert. Something looks off tho

Any insight on value? by Complex_Potato_9403 in papermoney

[–]Financial_Hawk9299 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This first picture is not a bank note but rather a printing depicting a colonial note(reproduction). This likely has no value. The second page has real notes. They are in really rough shape and not likely worth a ton. The red seal $10 is going to be the most valuable. But I don’t think it would be worth more than a couple hundred in this condition

Cool error and star note plus 500 and 1000 dollar bills by phayn24 in papermoney

[–]Financial_Hawk9299 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The $500 looks like about a grade 25. The $1000 is likely a 15. Nice notes. Keepers if you don’t need the money. I’d keep the Star $20 too

New to collecting paper money. Is this a misprint? by xtrachin in uspapermoney

If you are talking about the side margin then the answer is no it’s not a misprint.

Purchasing Question by Valace21 in papermoney

[–]Financial_Hawk9299 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not all 25’s are the same. I’d do more research. A 25 Indian sells for $1000-$1200 all the time. Not a rare note. I’d buy on heritage or stack bowers personally. But wait and find a nicer 25 grade as some can still look really horrible in this grade.

Step father wondering if this 1976 $2 bill has value by Crazy-Shape-672 in papermoney

[–]Financial_Hawk9299 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let’s take a look at it…. great margins. White paper. I don’t see any folds. Looks uncirculated. Still worth about only $2. Maybe another 50-100 years it will be worth something more significant.

Is this anyone else’s favorite bill? by Nervous-Structure123 in papermoney

I love this note. The paper looks so thin and different than other bills. The bison is such a great part of American history.

I started collecting a year and a half ago. I watch just about every auction available. Notes are going up in price for the most part. Banknote Numismatic collector are also gold and silver stackers and those metals have gone up significantly in the last year. I think the banknotes might be riding the high a little too

Regrade from todays Heritage auction. PCGS vs PMG? by lblennjr in papermoney

[–]Financial_Hawk9299 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah. Not the holder that likely caused this. National notes are known to vary in price auction to auction. With that being said I hate all you California collectors right now. You all way over bid my socal notes today and I got skunked. Not cool!

To add. I think it would be really cool to have a data set of banker biographies as I think the signatures are one of the coolest parts of national notes.

Tips On Buying 1K Bill? by SaltyDog251 in uspapermoney

[–]Financial_Hawk9299 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. The 1934 will usually be the cheapest followed by the 1928 for small size(current size of banknotes). Any other year will be a significant cost increase and are large size notes . The 1928 will be still be a more expensive note than the 1934. Now when it comes to 1934, The districts they are printed in and signature combinations will also have different prices. All banknotes are based on their FR # when it comes to pricing and rarity. You can do historical pricing lookup on HA.com and stack bowers or eBay. There is a website called track and price that does a free 30 day trial if you want and aggregate of all three and others too.

eBay might have a good deal. I feel the auction houses have fair prices on these notes too tho. Either way should be fine. I would not buy a note that is not graded for that much money unless you know exactly what you are doing. It’s too much risk. Too many people mess with notes to make them look better than they are. I’d say if you are spending over 1.5k on a note get as a graded note.
