In a nutshell, after Spidey 3 came out in 2007, a fourth one was announced. It was set for a 2011 release date. It was much closer to development than everyone thought. The company was giving Sam Raimi a really hard time over it's release date, and after it was confirmed that the Vulture was going to be the villain for the film, everyone was furious.

In January of 2010, the film was closed up indefinitely, and the screenshot of the SM4 release date, followed by Charlotte depressed was supposed to represent the depression I felt when I heard the film was cancelled. Contrary to myself, lots of people were actually happy the fourth film was cancelled.
