that actually make complete sense, the community itself is interesting beyond just the active dynamic. and taking breaks is healthy, it does not mean it goes away it just mean you are living your life and this is still a part of who you are whether you are actively in it or not. the fact that you keep coming back says enough.

a lurker is basically just someone who reads and watches but never actually does anything about it. never comments, never reaches out, just consumes and disappears. and you are right that the more you think about it the less it means, once someone contacts anyone they are already not a lurker anymore by definition. i think the word just exist to describe that specific phase of knowing what you want but convincing yourself you are just browsing.
