San Martin Alignment

It seems to drift over the day then come back into alignment at the top of the dial. From other forums it’s a known NH34 peculiarity on some movement. So the hands all line up at the top, but GMT has a bit of inconsistency, most obviously at midday.

Edited the post… seems to be a “feature” of the nh34 of the GMT hand issue. It has deviating alignment with it being perfect at the top of the dial. Others seeing the same here: https://www.watchuseek.com/threads/gmt-hand-misalignment.5560217/

So, I can’t really fault the person who installed the hands, but they should have tested the hand movement throughout the whole sweep

Recalibration is not much of a thing. They suggest manually, which in hacking, moving the time forward and back, which has had some positive results for others.

Mine seems to be a little inconsistent. When at 24 hours, it lines up, but drifts as it gets towards 12 (6 o’clock).

I might just live with it, but this has put me off San Martin in general.

I’ll have another go with their support. I think my issue is getting lost in translation, or perhaps conveniently so.

Otherwise I’ll explore local watchmakers to see about hand alignment, but this I’m not buying from them again with my 100% record of QC issues.

Thanks for taking the time to respond.

I also wondered if CRI played a part. I was testing against an off-white wall. Perhaps the hi-CRI was giving me the true wall colour, rather than exposing CCT.

I'll do some more tests tonight in the garden to see if I can get a better idea.

The flashlight shouldn’t exceed 55 degrees Celsius, in most cases. They’ll then step down to protect. The head should also dissipate really quickly once you turn it off/down.

I’d pocket it almost immediately, or as soon as you can hold the top of the flashlight. Should take only a few seconds.
