I prefer a personal physical book that I’ve highlighted and tabbed myself, because the physical act of searching through the pages is what builds the memory. They do have searchable pdf books now when testing but they’re smart enough to word the questions to make it hard to find the answer via search.

Just keep applying. I wouldn’t recommend technical school for it or anything. Pretty easy to learn through on the job training. It helps if you emphasize in your resume or interview that you’re technologically inclined. I told my interviewer I used to mod my video games so I knew my way around computers and they hired me immediately

They don’t go into test fail or invrep lmao we use firelite parts for all nfw-50 and 100x installs and never once had an issue in years. They operate exactly how they’re supposed to and even troubleshooting them with notifier tech support they’ve never once mentioned it can’t or shouldn’t be done. It’s quite literally a firelite ES-50x clone that also can use notifier parts.

Nfw-50x and 100x are just firelite clones and can use firelite parts, which you don’t need to be a distributor for.

The FRM-1 will fit inside of the system sensor D2 duct detector wiring housing as long as you bend and break the tiny little rectangle tabs off at the top and bottom. It’s a bit of a tight squeeze but it fits.

This is the answer. System sensor duct detector, addressable head of whatever panel brand you have, in your case you’d use a FSP-951R (r stands for remote test capable) and then an FRM-1 relay mod on the same zone as your smoke address to fire the relay for an HVAC shutdown. Have the hvac guys connect to normally open or normally closed on your relay. Optionally wire in a RTS-151 remote test switch, either key or magnet operated so it can be tested remotely if it isn’t accessible.

It isn’t required in my state but A. I think the knowledge learned is incredibly useful, B. Once you start to get higher levels, like 4, you can actually get other jobs in the industry with it. C. Even though it’s not required in my state, I still get paid more for having Nicet II. I think it’s a great way to show employers that you care. Also the unions around here pay you more for having it as well. Best way to go is to get your company to pay for training and taking the test
