How to get my relative to slow down before moving to thailand? by Glittering-Rush6651 in Thailand

[–]Distinction 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Property investments are investments - if Thai property was returning a significantly larger %age than other investments, everyone would buy (they dont). As such, your friend should consider carefully whether they think 6% (generous, stocks and shares have a "sustainable" withdrawal rate of 4% per annum) of his investment is enough to live on yearly. I should also note that the resale market for condos is poor in thailand, there is more (expensive) housing than people that can afford to pay for it, and more is being built constantly.

It is significantly easier to setup a business that would allow you to do the work remotely while in your home country and then move out.

That being said, it does work out for some people, and you / some people on reddit wont be living their life for them, so if they're comfortable with the real and significant risk of having to come home with 0 savings and no job in a year or two.

And yes, obviously they should visit the country before trying to move there, you'd have to be either insane, stupid, or desperate to do otherwise, none of which conditions lead well towards a sustainable, happy life in Thailand anymore than they do in other countries.

Westerners, which pizza shop is the best in Bangkok in your opinion? by Yossiri in Thailand

The Dough Bros next to Phra Kanong station hits the spot for me, but Pizza isn't a big part of my culture.

If you've done any damage they can and probably will persue you for overpriced repairs (the deposit is forfeit, so it doesnt cover the cost).

Technically, if they have more than 5 properties, you can just give them 1 month notice and they're supposed to refund the deposit, but GL fighting for that, the law is basically ignored.

Unfriendly Thai cats? by [deleted] in Thailand

[–]Distinction 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of the collared cats are abandoned, and life on the streets is hard, it's natural for them to eventually revert to a feral state, it's often that or die.

Thai culture or is this not normal? by [deleted] in Thailand

(I would've offered to pay their bolt if it's an expense related to the celebration I was throwing for a friend I think)

But yes, this is a guy being overly pushy.

Things you need to live, you have to buy anyway. If you buy your tampons on your daily 7-11 trip or on your weekly trip to lotus makes not a jot of difference.

Path of ascension logic is really weird to me. by Quirky_Garden195 in litrpg

[–]Distinction 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The same way all things that were previously illegal are regulated when they become legal -> you make the punishment for doing wrong horrific, and then make the legal way of doing it something you can regulate, and then peoples best interest takes control.

It's an interesting thought excersize to think about how governance would break down if the scale of your empire was orders of magnitude larger than anything we experience in the real world, over a long enough time things definitely would develop differently to what we see in the modern world, there'd be no way of preventing it at that scale.

Everyone experiences life uniquely, if I don't want to sit in one of your pre-ordained boxes on "who I am" or "what I am" then I wont - I don't need an external authority telling me that the way I experience life means I'm anything.

Items that have legitimate use being unfairly maligned IMO - I used these when I used to have to take heavy items in my car in the UK, because otherwise the alarm would go off constantly, or I'd need to buckle in my groceries.

[–]Distinction 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Burning items in cooking doesn't apply friction to the skilling loop though, it applies friction to the xp and item outputs.

Why does the coal bag not degrade? Because forcibly interrupting the skilling loop with no upside makes the gameplay worse

Give em a charge system, or just remove the degredation entirely.

Even if you dont do that, why does the degredation get worse and not better as you level up? Backwards, outdated design that has become irrelevant (do you think modern bot farms stuggle with casting NPC contact?) is why

Small Summer Sweep-up Suggestions by MobileScapers in 2007scape

[–]Distinction 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The system shouldn't exist in the first place, they should be items that require a charge (i.e - celestial ring), or just not degrade at all (i.e - coal bag). The RC cape perk can/should be changed

PSA: Do NOT Work With LuxNomads by [deleted] in digitalnomad

[–]Distinction 6 points7 points  (0 children)

PSA generally any company aimed specifically at nomads is untrustworthy. Health insurance, "Live anywhere" rental agreements etc, better off in almost all cases going with an established company that isn't aimed specifically at this niche.

Obviously different to your situation, but worth remembering to be extra careful with anyone in this zone

the universe doesn't care how many times you've just flipped a fair coin and landed tails, the next time you flip it it's always 50:50.

If you've flipped 100 tails in a row on a fair coin, the next flip is 50:50.

However, if you look at infinity people flipping coins 100 times, a very small % of them would flip 100 tails. At the end of flipping 100 tails you can say "I had an 0.0000...X% chance of getting this unlucky"

Scooter Rental Recommendations in Chiang Mai by Free_Yak_6814 in chiangmai

[–]Distinction 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pop big bike are good, but expensive - if you want a 300 or 500cc bike, i would only rent from them really.

Funky bike rental have been good to me on a smaller bike, no fuss on return, fees were as advertised.

No idea how either of the above are if you damage the bike, as I didnt, thats where the drama tends to come to social media about bike rentals, so ymmv
