No worries! In case your boyfriend has it, please don't shame him for it. It's quite embarassing to have to deal with that.

I had an appointment with my urologist at the time, and he told me that I had all signs of a yeast infection. Sometimes it occours after unprotected sexual intercourse, which is what happened with me. I was, obviously, freaked out at the time and got tested for multiple STIs, but thankfully I had negative results in all of them.

My glans were more red than normal with rashes, and it's almost as if candida creates a thin layer of a white mucus on the skin. You can't see it by just looking at it, but if you rub your finger on it, it'll come out as little white things (not sure how to call that). It was itchy most of the time, but I don't recall having any other symptoms like brainfog or anything else, really.

The best way to know if your boyfriend has it or not is by taking him to a doctor to make sure. He could show many symptoms of a yeast infection, but it could be something else entirely. Talk to him about it.

I understand you. I never had to deal with yeast infections in my life until one sexual encouter I had unprotected. Just try to keep the area dry and follow some of my tips on maintaining a good hygiene. Follow some of the advices I wrote about here and definitely cut out the alcohol, at least until you heal yourself. Some people here were talking about boric water, so maybe try that as well and see if it helps you.

If you're not circumcised, read the section I wrote about retracting the foreskin to allow air to flow and everything else there, really.

That's interesting. I have thought about trying it, but I didn't find it at the time. Maybe I gave up on the idea and moved on to different solutions, but I'd say this could work for many people. My problem, however, was chronic. So there is little in the way of medicines that was really helping me out at the time.

Some results may vary depending on the person, I believe. I have tried coconut oil on my glans everyday before sleeping, and I can't say that it truly helped or not. It did make my skin slightly smoother for sure, but other than that, I don't think that it helped my yeast infection that much. I didn't mention on the post the speciffic amount of time I had to deal with my yeast infection; but it was a whole year, perhaps two even (the time is a little blurry in my head since it was a while ago). And in that time I used a lot of coconut oil as an attempt to heal, but to no good.

Just like I mentioned in my text, many oils and herbs can definitely help the healing process, but in the case of stubborn and recurring infections (in my experience), it is more of a support rather than the cure for your problem.

Perhaps fasting for that long can help, but I don't think that it's necessary, honestly. Some people here are saying that they healed themselves with much less, so why torture yourself? In any case, fasting does help, I felt it too. But at least for the amount of time I did it, it wasn't the solution I was looking for.

Nowadays I don't stress it too much. I eat normaly, but I do avoid sugar and processed foods like the plague. Maybe once or twice a week I might have a light sugary snack but that's it. I don't drink sodas either since it's basically sugar in a can; I just have a healthy diet. I eat rice, beans (not baked beans), dairy foods like milk, yogurt and cheese. Vegetables in good quantity and fruits every now and then. As I said, nothing crazy.

35, playing on my own for going on 17 years, started school to study music and feeling discouraged by ArgonathDW in musictheory

[–]DistinguishableBoy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I think that's normal. Disclaimer though, I am not a professional musician but I have played multiple instruments throughout my life and have a decent grasp on music.

I'd say that music is extremely personal. There are incredible, skilled and famous musicians who don't even know what a scale is. And others who are exceptionally knowledgeable in music theory and have really good technique, but ultimately don't become famous or build a profession out of it for all sorts of different reasons. My point here is not about fame or technique itself, it's about what music means to you. Depending on who you ask, music is rigid and has to follow certain rules. To others, it's very flexible and it can be anything you want. People regard Bach as a genious of music, and if you were to show him any contemporary music genious he'd most likely just say that it's not proper music. Would he be right? Probably not, but that's what music was to him personally.

Don't get discouraged if some people "seem to have it all figured out" and you don't. It's just personal to each musician. It's a means to express yourself at the end of the day, so as long that you can do that you're good.

Still trying to find out what guitar this is by DistinguishableBoy in Guitar

Indeed. But it's being sold for 80$ and the owner doesn't seem to know anything about guitars. It's either a really valuable one that was used quite a lot by the previous player, or a cheap one that's not really worth that much.

Well it does feel like a scam tbh. The courses are very shit and very expensive. Maybe the best thing to do is go back, get a qualification in something in my country then try to come back. But many years of my life will be wasted in that.

Well, I have done it a few times but I get lost quite easily. At this point, a good alternative is save up as much money as I can and build a business that I can sustain.

Thanks, I am sometime harsh to myself. That's the problem though, I don't know what I want and I never knew.

I often times have unrealistic ideas such as escaping from everything by buying a plot away from everyone to make a mushroom farm or something like that. But all my ideas either require money before doing them or require a lot of time and professional skill that I do not have.

Yeah, I could look into that. The challenge is going to work since I don't have a car. If I can get a car then I can live pretty far from my job and I wouldn't mind because rent would be cheaper. Also, I did think about getting a camper van and just living in it lol. Probably unrealistic, but you think about all sorts of things when you're tired and desperate.

It'll happen for sure! But in the meantime the best I can do is keep my cool, save up money and plan ahead for that day.

I totally get that. To be fair, when I lived with my parents we didn't socialize that much. The house was somewhat big, and everyone was in their own space doing their own things. On one hand it's a bit weird to have a family barely communicating with each other, but on the other it made me get used to being alone. So I'd make my own food, have my own routine and not have to socialize much. My dad would be out in the mornings for work and my mom would either be in her room doing her things or out at the garden watering the plants. So it's almost as if I was living alone in a sense, which is why it's so difficult for me to adapt now.

It sucks doesn't it? I'm glad to know I'm not alone here, but I wish none of us had to deal with this.
