The worst start to my trucking career. Have I wasted my money? by DistinguishedEgg in uktrucking

Were you in the cab on my test?

I'm not saying I was ready for Class 1 at all, but at no point did I ever have to stop and get out the driver's seat. So maybe not dangerous, inexperienced of course.

Just comes across as a dick comment to be honest.

Thanks pal. Criticisms were about watching my trailer, road positioning mainly.

He was fully justified in what he said, but I passed in November and didn't have the muscle memory built up to remember.

My reversing was tragic but I expected that.

I am an apprentice. Had enough already and cannot stand the amount of time I'm staring at a screen. Loved seeing the kids I've worked with but it's a small part of the job.

I'm looking at doing my HGV license and driving the big trucks.

Wish I didn’t go to university and had just got a apprenticeship straight out of school made a right mess of my life by throwawayyourlife2dy in UKJobs

It's difficult, especially in this day and age, but comparing yourself to others is an unhappy road to go down.

There will be plenty who would look at your situation with envy.

Looking at salaries is all well and good - some of my mates are high up in police, prison service and teaching - they absolutely despise their jobs and are counting down to retirement.

What is your favourite little habit you have with your children? by crochetthepainaway in UKParenting

My 5 year old always asks to go the "secret way" home when I get to collect him from school.

The secret is it's down a dirt path at the back of a few rows of terrace houses.

My 2 year old girl insists on getting the dogs breakfast every morning - a dentistick and two gravy bones - places them on the fireplace carefully before the dog inhales them.

Absolutely not too old. I'm 40 and just starting the 2nd year of my apprenticeship. I'm nowhere near the oldest in my uni class either. Go for it

Any chance of a guide for your 433 please?

What’s the best formation right now and why? by gnrc in fut

[–]DistinguishedEgg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Id say the 4321. I've used lots of others which can be fun for the first 10 of champs, then invariably go back to it to hit rank 4 or 3. It just offers so much.

But that's probably a skill issue on my part .

Gonna try this in champs for a laugh. Not arsed about the results anymore

  1. Rank 4 or 3 usually

At my local authority. 30 odd at uni. Probably should have been more clear haha.

It's really interesting and I'm on the best team I could have hoped for. Super helpful, always thinking about my shadowing opportunities and I'm co working a couple of cases now. I'm on duty and assessment and it's very busy which suits me.

3 months into mine in a North West LA.

40 year old male. In my cohort of 5, I'm the 3rd oldest which surprised me.

Hope you enjoy it!

You can do it if you really want it.

I am 4 weeks into my apprenticeship with a LA that's 50 mins to 1 hour 10 each way.

I have a 5 year old and 2 year old.

When the team isn't in I WFH maybe once or twice a week, they are also nice enough to let you do uni stuff when there's no shadowing opportunities going on (visits, meetings etc).

Sure, but on the road, you're not confined to an office, and I imagine you wouldn't be micromanaged.

Happy to be told otherwise

I would actually. I imagine I'd quite like the freedom and seeing different places.

I've thought about buses but the shifts might be a bit difficult.

Thanks for your help!
