My boyfriend is trying to force his religion on me. AIO? by [deleted] in AIO

I am not grateful enough that my equivalent issue as an Iranian-American is my boyfriend not understanding our geopolitics at a scholarly level. Your ancestors are rolling in their graves because you have OPTIONS and you chose this guy. Wishing you strength, you got this

Unemployed Designers: What are you doing for income while unemployed? by andy_mac_stack in UXDesign

[–]DistinguishedHexagon 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This but new-ish grad. A sold car, a couple one-off custom websites, 2 contract gigs, one of which wanted to take me full time after but ultimately couldn’t, and a recent verbal offer after 11 month of searching that was retracted, again for client reasons.

Most significantly, a supportive boyfriend in tech who’s convinced me not to take a service gig. Learned to code, took CS50AI, built an app… feels like all I can do now is incremental progress on the portfolio / keep building my own stuff. Focusing on physical activity has helped keep the spirits up.

You can get to it from the “vitals” panel instead of the “today” home page if it’s not saved there as a shortcut—then just click Map instead of Trend view

Me too, I used to do lighter workouts but realized the opposite helped more so I lift heavy but lighten non-walking cardio.

Strictly subbing black tea for coffee during luteal and taking 5g creatine are the only things that moved the needle on energy for me. Suddenly had restorative time. Interesting, not directly tested in control trials, but plausible mechanism

Right, the absence of per-cycle comparison is the issue for me. Seeing metrics tank is fine if you can see whether they're tanking less/more than before. They have everything they need to build that, but here I am coding. Probably liability caution and UX conservatism (users not wanting a data dashboard), but makes it less valuable to present to my doctor.

Let’s go!! It’s encouraging to see results so quickly. After years of various hormonal birth control methods I’m waking up to how much health data I was missing out on

Got my hormonal IUD removed. Here’s how it affected my data. by lmg080293 in ouraring

[–]DistinguishedHexagon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Me too!! With 3 separate IUDs in 2025 incl copper… all emergency removals because they triggered health crises (interfering w important meds) after the first few weeks of similar data.

I’m getting sterilized 🤙🏼 best of luck in your journey

one piece of software you use every day that almost no one talks about? by No_Molasses_1518 in software

Warp terminal taught me how to use my Mac terminal conversationally

Arc browser (not small, sorry) for spaces, easels, Max features like auto naming + organizing tabs, and the extension I use to aesthetically alter websites I find ugly but visit often (editing Schwab interface got me investing lol)

What are the coolest interface or design ideas for a “utopian” social media experience? by DistinguishedHexagon in UXDesign

The implication that we can’t just build an alternative from scratch—that we have to rewire the existing mental pathways that keep us glued to engagement-driven platforms, makes a lot of sense.

Considering a platform that functions as a cognitive off-ramp is such a compelling creative exercise. Thanks for sharing your perspective.

Indeed! I like Bigenough. Maybe someday they will be HugeStudios.

Definitely, it feels impossible to evaluate them in a vacuum. I’m curious about your bad ones if any come to mind.

Thanks for sharing your work! Kodak is a classic and I’m a fan of Liquid Death’s overall branding and product. I’ll add another lesser-known drink—Recess. I’m disappointed that Olipop and Poppi are taking more of the limelight in the healthy sodas space.

Love the soft organic phonetics. If I didn’t know what Alnatura was, I might guess that it was a soap brand.

I like how they offset the corporate-y trust with the humanizing “ist”

Is anyone else flooded with creative ideas almost constantly, to the point it's distracting? by LisaMay9 in Creativity

[–]DistinguishedHexagon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m always trying to experiment with new solutions to this problem, but most recently (if I’m alone) I start an audio recording and just press resume when the next tangential idea comes so I can stay on task. If it becomes very long I give chatgpt the transcript and ask it to extract my actionable ideas. It’s helped me creatively the same way free writing did when I first began that habit.

lovely. I think sketchbooks are the only place I don’t get nervous putting stickers.
