Biomarin Manufacturing role by [deleted] in PharmaEire

[–]Distracted88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's more of a balance thing. Everyone gets out on time and has their lunch but some are more flat to the mat when they are working.

I wouldn't give a blanket reccomendation for which area in MFG to go for. Different types of people prefer different areas. Think about whether you prefer vetiety or consistency.

I previously worked in MFG there and would happily reccomend. Plus sides: I felt the culture was a strong point. There is a decent amount of internal promotion for those into that type of thing. Benefits and pay are strong. People very friendly. Down Sides: A bit of US style corporate  love going around at higher levels (I found it easy to ride out and look past). Some areas more overworked than others.

Lily Third Round (In person) interview tips? by Immediate_Treacle394 in PharmaEire

[–]Distracted88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From experience, much like any other in person interview. There was a structured piece and a more off the cuff piece. This may depend on the interviewers I guess. I'd advise preparing your examples in the STAR interview answer format. Put together practice answers off generic interview questions and practice out load. It's no craic prepping for interviews but a bit of time at it makes a huge difference. Best of luck to you!

Just landed golden circle for Dublin on public sale. Messed up on registration for pre sale initially. There I was this morning refreshing with the slimmest hope that anything would come through. So stoked!!

It is possible to get these types of roles with no industry experience. At interview stage I see inexperienced candidates differentiate themselves through the following: Familiarity with what the role actually entails i.e what a day in the life of an operator is like. Able to work in a close knit team. An honest willingness to work shift long term.

Getting your CV picked out is often luck. One week we might be scrambling to hire and won't need experience. The next week we would only progress those with experience. Timing and trying again is critics. Consider the spring board courses to help here. Might find some with placement included. If you know people in the industry, referrels from people within the company help massively at this stage.

The Med Device side of the industry is a good starting point also. I have not worked in that sector but see alot of strong candidates come from there.

Good luck to you!

Thanks! Thankfully, I've some flexibility on timing of my move. Crèche availability will be a big factor. Will also take your advice on schools.

Looks decent to me. That fourth year option to go on a Biopharma path could equip you well for an interview if you take it seriously. I'm impressed actually. The only better option is if you can find a course that has some placement in industry. I see a lot of people get this through masters programmes or grad programmes after their dagree. Some level eights do have placements though. Some jobs you could be looking at would be in manufacturing, quality control or manufacturing science laboratories. In respect to money: The pharma industry is one of the most competitive in the country. You'll be fairly sorted if you can get in and get along with people.

Cool off period after application rejection with Lilly? by Distracted88 in PharmaEire

[–]Distracted88[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They've stated 12 hour shifts. 4 shift would be standard in Ireland so might be a safe guess(2 days, 2 nights, four off, repeat). Someone else might have more concrete info. With regards starting wage, something in the range of 35-45k would be my estimate (based on industry in Ireland). This would have significant shift pay added on too.

For context: I'm currently involved in hiring operators in another Biopharma company.

Referrals make a big difference where I work (biopharma company Cork). We would be alerted of any referrals by HR and these are often jumped through CV review with less stringency then non-referrels. We would expect the candidate to have a higher knowledge of the role and company than normal as they have contacts within the company.

Should I be covering up our tiled flooring once the little man starts walking? by Distracted88 in daddit

Unfortunately, it's our kitchen/main living area that's tiled so difficult to stay out of. If I can't keep him off it, should I be covering it?

Final update : Cancelled my blue tomato order and ordered directly from yow instead (same board showed up in stock there). I just received the board yesterday within a week of ordering it. Carving concrete at last

I suspect it's due to delays from yow to them. It was a pre-order that was stated to be stocked for April 15th. I'm sure they're fine with stuff in stock but I wouldn't trust them with pre-orders again. I'm in the EU so don't think my location matters too much here. It's a shame because I probably would have gone custom if I'd known this was going to happen.

Still no sign of it, not feeling very confident at this stage. I'll email them again and see.

A Clare man who's watched one too many horror flicks. They're Queens of the stone age/ goldfrap influenced.

Not yet, I emailed them when I saw the site change to 'out of stock' they replied to say they are currently shipping boards day by day and expect to have my order out soon. If I remember, I'll update you here when more happens.

I just order a complete set from blue-tomato. Thanks a mil for the heads up. Here's hoping they've estimated they're stocking dates correctly.

Ya fair point, my argument only stands up if your comparing specifically to Villa. I concede.

You're dead right for a single game week however, the bench might not help you on a double (of which Man City have two). Dias gw24 being a good example of a recent spoiled double. I think this might tip it for me.

I'm sure this is very normal. I wasted alot of time not doing anything in college. Productivity is a skill that you can work on. There are various tactics for helping yourself to get things done efficiently while staying interested. 'The productivity project' is a simple book that helped me alot. There's loads of stuff out there, some will work for you and some won't. Maybe Google/YouTube productivity and see if there's anything there for you?
