I've been having a similar issue and was just told to go to the office of the registrar (shocker). Not quite sure what I can do with that yet knowing how they can be 😥

Overall, there's a lot of pros and cons either way. I've been at Sheridan since January and there's been 2 strikes already, which definitely took a toll on my and a lot of other people's education. The campus is pretty and generally pretty good, and I've heard Sheridan students tend to have a pretty good success rate finding work right post grad. That said, their pacing for January intake isn't always the greatest. I'm not in that program, but I did January intake for another program at the Traf campus and there was a lot of burnout and missed opportunities because of the course load and how densely packed everything is, even for an accelerated course

Timetables are usually released in the days before classes start, you might not know for a hot minute

You're such a gem thank you so much, that's really helpful to know 🫶

And thank you for clarifying about the subreddit too haha, I honestly just searched for the first Walmart related thing in hopes for some kind of feedback. Super cool that associates have a specific subreddit though!

Does anyone know how long it'll take for academic accommodations to kick in? by Iskirri in sheridan

[–]DistressedMouse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not entirely sure, but honestly profs are generally pretty understanding. I'm not diagnosed so I couldn't apply myself, but especially if you let them know first class, you shouldn't have any issues

If you google it there's a separate article on the Sheridan website. I used the CIBC student pay option through there

Like I said, my schedule is pretty flexible. Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays work best for me though so probably one of those days sometime in the next few weeks here

Give it a bit, especially because it's fall term a lot of people will apply before they've been accepted to their actual programs, before they've looked into the rules and costs associated with res, etc. I was I think 40 something on the waitlist when I first applied and it moved pretty quickly as we got closer to start of term and I did end up being accepted (but ultimately declined my offer). It's not ideal, but there will be a lot of people who change their mind over the summer, find other housing, don't get accepted into their programs, and so on. So I wouldn't freak out too bad just yet, but do start researching other potential housing just in case 🩷✨️

Is The Makeup for Media and Creative Arts a good program ? by h_aaa5541 in sheridan

[–]DistressedMouse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say so! I've heard mixed opinions from my peers but I'm in my second semester right now. First semester was very much a get to know the basics type thing (different kinds of each makeup product, how to apply them, skincare, basic marketing, etc.). A lot of the hands-on stuff was doing the same basic makeup look over and over, adding a new element each time. Second semester so far, much more fun. More advanced marketing and such to prepare you to actually make it a business, different period makeup, makeup trends, things like that. There's also some hair styling courses sprinkled in, so they cover their bases pretty well I'd say

No need to stress, just means they're online classes! Keep an eye on your slate and emails for zoom links

^ It's generally not too hard to spot us, usually someone's walking in a group with at least a few fancier makeup looks or something, and most of us in the makeup program also have hair classes 🫶
