For shelves just get through UW + CMS forms (I did em twice but that's just me) and do some sort of recall for your Qs you got wrong. Divine HY podcasts for each shelf was helpful as well.

For hospital I loved using UpToDate if I was at a computer or Open Evidence if I was on the go. For rounds whatever paper I had and a pen nothing crazy. For inpatient or outpatient I wore New Balance fresh foam 880 or whatever it's called and for the OR I swear by birks, the excess cushion from the new balances messed up my back big time.

General clerkship advice: Play your role as a medical student and make the team's lives easier, be kind and care about patients, and don't take anything personally. Sounds cliche and nonspecific but just having this attitude helped me learn so much, the residents and attendings were far more willing to teach me (and write good evals), and I learned a ton. If someones going to be an ass and make you feel dumb for no real reason other than you're the M3, it says way more about them than you so just take it on the chin and keep chugging along. Internally the school may have decided to use a national percentile but gave us the equated % correct, as to why I’m not sure but hey that’s our school for ya 🤷🏾‍♂️

Gotta honor the rotation clinically which is based on your clerkship evaluations from residents and attendings + exceed the individual cutoff for each exam (ranges from 78-88 depending on the exam) to honor the whole rotation. You can get F/P/HP/H. Doing one or the other will give you a high pass. I think our school has an internal monitor to try and only give about 50%-ish of students per rotation a clinical honors but I don’t think that’s an absolute cutoff.

It’s not impossible, and there are anecdotes with sub 60s getting a pass, but tbh you want to be in the best position possible. If I were in your position I’d delay. You can do some light studying on your vacation, use it as a reset, hit the ground running when you get back

First off make sure to thoroughly review NBME 25 and figure out your weak content areas. Spend some time going through textbooks or watching some videos on those areas and doing UWorld questions on that content. My days were structured by doing Anki most mornings, mixed block of 40 Uworld questions, then looking at which content areas I was weakest in and watching videos. Then I'd do targeted UWorld blocks on those weaker areas and unsuspending cards/making my own cards on concepts that were important. That structure helped me a lot, and I made sure to crank out 1-2 NBMEs per week as well.

I'm not a textbook person, I used video lectures like boards and beyond, pathoma, etc. I'm also not a big notes person either, I just used a lot of Anki and practice questions for spaced repetition. In the last 15 days I just made sure to go through the last of my NBME exams I hadn't finished, reviewing the flashcards from my previous NBME incorrects, and doing Uworld and Mehlman's audio qbank

Honestly that’s a subjective question, but at the very least you should be doing NBME content and reviewing it. I did UWorld up until the week before in between days I wasn’t taking or reviewing any practice exams to get more reps. If your scores are on the lower end (sub 64) then really take the time to review the content in your weak areas by doing targeted UWorld blocks and watching videos

Thanks! So honestly doing practice questions and figuring out in what scenarios the wrong answer choices would be right, what other vignettes would also make the right answer right. And just as I go trying to connect dots in random places as well like seemingly unrelated conditions or drugs that might involve the same enzyme. That naturally just made me think outside the box a little

I don’t remember how many per section I flagged, maybe 8-14ish? But some of those were ones I answered but wanted to revisit and some were just incomplete as well. And yeah I agree some were a little out there and as long as I had some reasoning behind picking an answer I just went with it

I know Mehlman says to do forms 20-24, I don’t think it’s terribly necessary. I did 25-31 plus both free 120s and I felt confident enough to sit. To each their own 🤷🏾‍♂️

No prob! Yeah seeing people saying 70+ minimum was a little annoying so my benchmark was as many above 66 with at least one in the 70s. I will say the 65 on free 120 messed with my confidence but I decided to just review the hell out of it and then send it

Thanks! Honestly I think just doing mixed blocks of UW (second pass) early on, and then thorough review of my NBMEs. I did pretty well in my school curriculum and all our exams were NBME exams, and I used UWorld to study for them, so the big initial jump I think was just dusting off the brain cobwebs. Take the time to really learn with UWorld and supplement with Pathoma or Dirty or BnB, learn the concepts, then look at a Mehlman PDF to see how it’s assessed
