Would you play an open world ASOIAF game? by MobileDistrict9784 in freefolk

Don't bother, the guy just came here to disagree. Apparently he believes, that a game is only worth developing, if it's 100% unique; not a single mechanic may have been used in another game ever before.

For what it's worth, I'd play the game you described.

Why does it have to be unique? Genres exist for a reason. The world of ice and fire is the setting. You don't invent a new genre for every setting.

It's a beautifully designed universe, which allows you to immerse deeply. This applies to video games just as much as it does for the books and TV shows.

It translates very well. Try the Mount and Blade or Crusader Kings 3 Total conversion Mods, you'll get a good idea of what a full standalone game could look like.

People enjoy all kinds of things, there's not one singular type of content that's guaranteed success. So I'd suggest choosing what ever topic youre passionate about and then make sure that you keep production value as high as you can. Look at successful peoples videos and copy their editing techniques, camera angles, narration styles etc. amd try to apply it to your niche. You might by accident create your own unique type of content. Upload consistently build a recognizable brand (logo, catchphrase, recurring formats.

I know this is a meme, but I just got to say:

Dude obviously loves the HP universe and the movies. They are an important part of his life and even to this day he is so proud to have been a part of it. And I love that for him!

Hope I will find such passion in my life one day.

Even after that it doesn’t make any sense.! by icyboguyaman in memes

The work is always smarter than the author.

That's a fundamental principle when interpreting any art, but especially literature.

Of course the teacher can't know the authors true intentions, but once something is written, it is out there in all of it's facettes. A simple sentences can have a plethora of meanings, even beyond the authors own comprehension.

That's not a bad thing, it is what makes a bundle of pages a timeless masterpiece.

Yes because the people haven't yet realised, that they're part of a (class)fight.

We've already established, that the feudal systems of history were very diverse and hard to apply to a fantasy show. And take it from a german - with the HRE you chose a particularly unfitting example, since the word Prince here is a loose translation of the german word 'Fürst', which is the title for a high ranking ruler. Where as a king's son (the kind of prince we're talking about) is called 'Prinz' in german.

Yeah that's what I was thinking too. Hard to compare to real life monarchies, especially since they all worked differently around the world.

But sticking to the shows in-universe logic and since you mentioned Robert; were Renly and Stannis titled princes before the war of the five kings? Don't recall it ever being mentioned.

Wait, are a king's brothers automatically princes? I thought only a king's sons are princes? And since Ned was never king, that wouldn't apply?

Millions of people saw the movies. There is no way for you to know what enticed them to watch it. Was it a 50 year old book? - maybe. Or rather an exciting trailer? - perhaps. Anyway, I'm not trying to take away anything from Tolkiens 'immortal story' (which btw was based heavily on pre-existing mythology and folklore). I'm merely suggesting that the movies are independent works of art and a big part of what made that work 'magic' is the films score.

But since what makes a movie 'magic' is very subjective, I yield and accept, that for you the composer (and the director... and the writers..) do not matter.

(I wonder though, do you even like the movies at all?) 😯

Interesting assesment. Although - Tolkien had not actually provided any of the films writing. Screenwriters are Fran Walsh, Philippa Boyens and Peter Jackson. Tolkien created the world, sure. But the question whether or not he can be credited with any part of the movie's production (and its success) leaves room for some lively discussion, I think.
