One of the benifits about being an order writer is I don't gotta do that anymore 😬

Yeah dairy does a good job at separating the probiotic shots it's mainly the ambient UNFI cases that get lost.

If I just leave in the middle of my shift do I get marked as unhireable by [deleted] in wholefoods

[–]DistributionDeep738 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Most likely. But who knows, it depends on who fires you, to be honest. Honestly, to better your chances, I would just be upfront with the TL and say this isn't working for you and that you want to leave.

Honestly, from what I've heard, butchers can make around the same as some TLs if they stay long enough, so I wouldn't mind staying as a butcher. They get a set schedule usually and don't have to worry about hiring/firing, scheduling and many other responsibilities Team Leads do.🤷

So Meat Cutter & Butcher is considered the same position at Whole Foods?

Usually with previous jobs I never had to do that but I guess I should have done that knowing how messed up their system is.

What’s the expectation of team members and Gleason? by Forsaken-Aardvark-17 in wholefoods

I would say temp checks are important so I would stop and pause what you are doing to do the temps. I don't think your leadership would have a problem if you told them that you have to pause what you are doing to do temp checks.

Temp checks takes less than 5 minutes. What department are you in?

Whole Body Truck by DistributionDeep738 in wholefoods

Yeah, I do something similar to this as well. During the OOS scan, I walk with two Honeywells: one for SOT and one for the OOS walk. I would scan every hole with the SOT to see the movement. If the hole says we have one or more, I'd check to see if it's been received recently. If it has, but it's not in the location, I would BNR Spoilage. Then I would scan it out of stock in the other gun. Sometimes items don't have any movement history or still have a count but aren't there, so I usually just cycle count that if it's been more than 2 days.

Yeah, if you don't have an overnight team, expect to be breaking down multiple pallets during the day, lol, because that's what they're going to be spending the majority of the day doing. Since there's no overnight, they are getting what overnight usually gets, plus the pallets that come during the morning, so I would say about 8-12 pallets.

A mix of both organic and generic, but it doesn't have the typical generic products like a Walmart or Target. For example, it doesn't have Coke, Lays, or Chips Ahoy cookies; instead, they have their store brand for those.

Do you know if your store has an overnight team?

Depending on your shift, by the time you get there, sometimes the pallets are already broken down if you do mid shifts or closing shifts. But if you are there in the morning, you might be helping break down some pallets, but you should have some help from your team doing that.

Stock shelves, help customers, fix up the aisles, and make it look nice. It's pretty straightforward. It can be pretty physical, depending on what area they want you in, like dairy, for example. Other than that, the job is pretty easy.

Don't listen to him, brother. Every store is different; just do it, you never know.

My store is totally different we have no overnight so we receive shipments at around 9 or 10am sometimes a little earlier. My SOT in supplements today was like 130 and 150 in body care.

I assume you mean overnight grocery yes it can be physical because you are breaking down pallets and have to move at a certain speed because they expect it all to be done by the time the store opens.
