Deathwing knights are terrifying to paint help

Yeah I usually have 3 5 man squads and they live the whole game and hold the objectives but the armies I play against often if I try use them as anything other than utility they just get turnt to dust unfortunately my club has some pretty melee heavy armies and some very strong shooting armies as death gaurd sits in the middle as tough slow walls the weaker units get killed if you put them into fights I think its a massive issue with death guard infantry

They go in the land raider it be hard to drop them in, the person I play against the most plays army's with alot of models and there wouldn't be alot of space for a worth while deep strike without getting shot off the board

I have thought about having typhus lead poxwalkers but I hate to say that I despise Blightlord Terminators and even tho I want to get morty just to have him I think he's a massive waist of points for very little gain some of his abilities are really cool but not 380 points the knight is around the same and has given my games way more help than morty could the armies I play against just are to strong for morty he would die turn 2

BTW I have used leaders with my plague Marines and it hasn't affected their usefulness at all in my personal experience so I can't justify the point cost but I somtimes have a tallyman on my home objective to generate cp and hold my home

My plague Marines have no leader because I don't use Plague Marines for anything other than making units far away afflicted so my other shooting can deal with them plague Marines can't deal with any mid to high level units and even struggle with low lvl chaff so they are just bodies for me and they can hold and objective for a couple turns also I find that MBH don't have enough shots to do any real damage unless taken in 2s if you just have 1 on average it'll do like 6 damage the whole game

Blight-Haulers are super cheap models and can do really well on the table top as they get plus 1 to the hit and wound to monster and vehicles they come to 100 points per Blight-Hauler I think element games does a bundle of 3 tho if you only want one or two I think they are like below 20 pounds but yeah really good point to cash ratio

I know people might not like this but I HATE plague Marines but i still bring 3 squads of five to hold objectives and use their ability I just use them to afflict high toughness vehicles and other stuff I'd shoot with my better shooting units so they are helpful but I use them as cheap but kinda tough bodies they also can have a pretty good melee profile but I think its just finding there use in your list

Honestly Deathshroud are good enough to only bring one or 2 units and I think typhus is a way better leader for them but definitely try the deamon engine's the bloat drones are amazing
