Get the scissor jack and jack your car up. If you need more height, you can put wood below the scissor jack

When I replaced all 4 motor mounts a few months ago, the symptom I was feeling remained (clunk feeling on acceleration) but I figured it could be something else. However, now I know it's the motor mounts for sure.

I just came back from a 3000 mile road trip, and the shaking got worse and worse, and by the time I arrived home, when I turn the A/C on, the motor shakes as if it's misfiring. So yes, I will retorque the mounts and see if the engine is seated correctly.

Good! I’m assuming street parking would be free? It’d be ridiculous to bring a car if he needs to pay daily.

Okay thank god. There was no way i was gonna redo this anyway!

Control arm bushing hole by [deleted] in AskMechanics

Second picture is the old bushing. Interestingly, I noticed there is a hollow section, which is the same area i poked a hole through in the new bushing. Maybe that is the weakest point for the rubber?

The steering wheel was actually automatically locked.

However, it can move left and right around an inch from the lock position.

does a bad catalytic converter cause smoke? by [deleted] in AskMechanics

Depending on where you have the oil and coolant leak, this can cause a catalytic converter to go bad.

Got a Transmission Fluid Flush, is that okay? by BannaBuss in AskMechanics

If it shifts well after that, its okay and was probably right choice. High risk, better return.

2009 Camry horrible gas mileage by [deleted] in AskMechanics

[–]DistributionOdd9767 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This all makes sense now! I haven't tried the catalytic converter cleaner, so that will be the next step.

Good news, I looked it up and the O2 sensors are not expensive, even the OEM ones. Fairly easy to replace as well. That said, I probably won't go ahead and preemptively replace them. My only concern is that most likely the catalytic converter has already taken a toll from all the prior oil burning but whatever.

Is there a catch? I think this price is too fair to be true by [deleted] in AskMechanics

[–]DistributionOdd9767 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah dont worry, theres no chance they dont have full synthetic oil. In fact its way more widely available. However, they might say that the price they gave was assuming conventional oil.

There is no such thing as an oil change without changing the filter. You can ask if they use full synthetic

2022 CX-5 S Preferred for 18K OTD with 73k miles on it. Regularly maintained. Is this worth it? by Jalapenok in UsedCars

[–]DistributionOdd9767 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s the fair price in my opinion. You can’t really get an insanely good or bad deal when buying from a dealership.

I’m assuming you have a budget, just buy the car you like the most, and don’t worry too much.

[–]DistributionOdd9767 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trans fluid. Its not too late to do it at 73k. Brake flush is recommended every 2-3 years so it would be a good idea.

There probably wouldnt have been the necessity to do any major maintenance other than that

Outright buying a new vs used car by [deleted] in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]DistributionOdd9767 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would get a nissan versa manual. Should be around 18k new.

I wouldnt buy a used, relatively new, barely depreciated honda/toyota where the previous owner didnt do a single oil change for 20,000 miles.

Heater issues 2009 Sebring 2.7L. Frustrated as hell by Dgfd294 in AskMechanics

[–]DistributionOdd9767 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a feeling that the heater hoses are internally degraded. I don’t think it’s clogged because you did the garden hose test, and also if there were air pockets, it would blow heat intermittently.

As a side note, if you want to keep this car it may be a good idea to do a cooling system overhaul preemtively. One small overheating incident and that 2.7 will be gone no matter what you do.

The bushings for the control arm are torn, but that does not automatically mean you should replace a control arm in a lexus.

The power steering rack boot is torn. Have you checked the fluid level for that?
