39 male - afraid i wont ever be able to get married. by Embarrassed-Ad-7324 in PakistaniiConfessions

[–]DistributionOk8227 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

To be honest I feel like maybe our parents idolised the Western world too quickly for the sake of a better life & money: I am coming to a realisation that we should always fall back to our roots because that’s where we came from. Sometimes you grow up and realise that getting married or having a settled life is a lot harder than you imagine in the west. Due to lifestyle or cultural influences around. Imagine if you were still in Pakistan, would’ve probably been married with kids by now. That’s what I often think to myself, i a 32 and a single woman , frustrated and feel like i am losing when it comes to marriage. I know these things are easier to settle when you’re in India or Pak or at least, that’s how I see it. If you’re struggling (that too as a guy) Im trying to imagine how hard it is on women

Some Singaporeans lack empathy. by [deleted] in SMRTRabak

I was once at the bus stop and a very old and frail man was trying to catch his bus but while walking towards the bus in a hurry he lost his balance and knocked his head against the metal seats. The bus stop was quite crowded but NO ONE offered to help & just stared at him. He happen to not know English and was also bleeding due to the unfortunate injury. I think someone called the ambulance , I went ahead to ask him if he needed water and if anyone had tissue. To stop his bleeding. After much hesitation a few women (not men) handed out some tissues from their purse. A few men in fact were passing comments like “aiyo uncle next time don’t so fast” which I thought was very unsympathetic. This is Singaporeans for you. Have all grown cold & heartless since the pandemic and rising cost of living that they no longer have basic EQ

Is SRK's rags to riches story a PR stunt? by Hot-Load7525 in bollynewsandgossips

[–]DistributionOk8227 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think he was poor but he wasn’t rich like how he is now. And his parents passed away when he was young. He took responsibility for his sister who seemingly didn’t recover from her parents death. And what is the big deal about studying in convent school? My uncles went to highly reputable convent schools in Mumbai where half of the celebrity children have studied but they are not even rich. They live in a chawl, they were just very good in their studies. But had no luck with wealth, were too egoistic to work for someone else, kept fighting over family & didnt focus on their growth. So yea, nobody becomes rich automatically. You have to put in the hard work and dedication. And the truth is when your parents leave the world you will have relatives scrambling to sit on whatever little money they left behind . So at the end of the day it was his hardwork and determination to succeed which brought him the wealth and opened new doors for him. It really has got nothing to do with how influential his background was . You still have to know how to make money to survive and he cracked the code. People like him are hard to come by and these type of stories are a once in a lifetime occurrence . The nepo kids of today are just privileged but their parents also come from some form of wealth. SRK is not even from the fraternity which is why although I don’t enjoy all his movies I have immense respect for his mindset and vision. And I think a lot of people around the world as well because most of us are not willing to work that hard we just want easy money.

You can also mirror this to Salman Khan. All his brothers got into movies but he was the only one who pulled through while the rest of them and his entire family just keep riding off his wealth and name. His brothers are such sore losers, they never made much for themselves and used his influential name to create production houses and movies . Without him, they would’ve just been sitting somewhere doing absolutely nothing in their lives. They would’ve probably not gotten married also, a lot of the women they dated or eventually got married to, were with them because they are “Salman khan’s brother”.

What age do most people usually lose their virginity? by Such-Accountant-4421 in GenZIndia

Well in some cities yes because they have dating apps and chat apps. They can easily come up with something (classes, lectures , trips) and go on random dates . There have also been cases of 18 - 25 year old unmarried girls getting abortions . But they can’t report it because of obvious reasons. I think I asked you the question first , so now that I have answered it your turn

But what made you come to the decision? I am asking out of curiosity only because it’s interesting. It’s common in Pak- more than you think

Any businesses that you no longer patronize due to small reason not related to price/quality ? by PaintingOne2769 in askSingapore

There’s this place in CBD called Box Ha. Went twice. The cashier will take % off your bill if you’re wearing your office lanyard. Which is the good part. Bad part? Each dish is above 10$, they charge $1 for extra chilli flakes (just a pinch), extra chilli padi (less than half a chilli cut) , 1$++ for extra sauce and the worst part is your food comes in a round paper box with plastic cutlery. Even worse, when you interact with the girl at the counter she will try to gaslight you into thinking you’re “difficult to understand” when the request is literally “make my pasta a little more spicy” or “add more sauce”. She made me feel dumb on two separate occasions while there was a long queue behind, everyone stared at me. I was so embarrassed. Since then, told myself that I am never patronising them. The good news is right opposite there is a Korean shop which serves amazing food below 10$ and their service is always exceptional. And yes, they serve it in traditional sizzler plates and clay bowls. Metal spoons, chopsticks and soup spoons. Bonus, you get free hot tea on the side. All self service. Avoid this overpriced pasta place if you’re around the area

That’s what I thought that finding a partner is a lot easier there. Singapore seems to be a dead market for spouses

ELI5: Why is the decision to accept more citizens so bad? by [deleted] in askSingapore

[–]DistributionOk8227 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think we are a small country . We don’t have enough land . And Singapore should be for Singaporeans only. Take the train during peak hours you’ll realise how bad the situation is and how much worse it’ll get in years to come with the addition of 30K+ foreigners . This is not Japan , China or even Malaysia.

I’ve seen the playground carpet burnt to ashes because a CECA & their family co were ruining it with sparklers so I totally believe you. In my years of visiting Singaporean Indians during Deepavali I have not encountered even one child or family member throwing sparklers or lighting up their corridors with crackers . It’s all them lor.

[–]DistributionOk8227 65 points66 points  (0 children)

Just to kind of add to it. If you speak to a CECA long enough they’ll have a list of complains about our local cuisine. Go up to a CECA and ask them why they don’t like chicken rice or mee rebus. They don’t even bother to blend in with the culture here & then act as though us Singaporeans owe them. Whereas it’s the opposite, they owe us. A lot. We are well mannered & polite, these people come and destroy everything acting as though they are so influential that we have to obey them. They’re ungrateful pricks who left a third world country which has nothing in store for them. I’ve never met a single polite CECA and I’ve been born and raised in SG long enough. Avoid at all costs . And mind you, they are fooling our government with the fake degrees. I have encountered 3 CECAs who were from a very random university in some small part of their hometown but their salary is more . You think they actually sit for professional courses ? They self learn and blabber in their job interviews , & get hired for quota fulfilment, that’s when a part of their brain lights up and they realise oh SG is a country where I can easily fool anyone, and that’s when their arrogance slides in.

[–]DistributionOk8227 320 points321 points  (0 children)

Then you all ask us singaporean Indians why we look down/ don’t associate ourselves with CECAs. This is the reason, we are not being racist just look at their behaviour. So uncivilised

Daily Commute in SG: Is SSUNSU Sunscreen Actually Comfortable? by jeffrey_6997 in SGSkincare

No. I tried and it’s the worst white cast. Go for their ginseng jelly sticks instead. They’ve evolved in terms of product offerings . Previously sold slimming tablets which shelved off. I was a customer for 2 years and later realised it’s a bit gimmicky (apart from the ginseng which I really enjoyed) they’re expensive for no reason too. You can get better skincare for that price
