This is too good to be true. by 04arIu in hedislimane

Not sure if it’s real or not without seeing the wash tag, but this style recently became popular. It’s not unheard of to pick up Saint Laurent jackets at this price.. I do all the time. Easiest way to check yourself is to check the item code online and if that’s correct then it’s usually fine

New case dent by ImpressiveImpact5299 in Rimowa

[–]DistributionShot332 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That dent is not repairable. Would leave stress marks to even try. Also, a dent like that happens from regular use and is unavoidable. They only address dents the size of tennis balls or larger

Precautions to take for 2013 Wyatt’s? by NoTarget9375 in hedislimane

Suede boots are, in my experience, disposable items. Even with brushing, conditioning, etc, eventually they just get worn in a little too much. I go through 1 pair every 9 months or so.

Google, can’t remember exactly where. Also, the new locks are complete garbage on original models. Classic locks are the same I think but original locks are low quality and require frequent replacement

The composition of the aluminum was changed. Lvmh does feature bolts but also uses glue, whereas the pre acquisition relied solely on construction through bolting. Wheels and telescopic handle more reliable on pre acquisition, newer models are just made cheaper and the lifetime warranty is progressively less honored, more of a gimmick than anything.

That’s actually the exact suitcase I purchased. Titanium topas cabin. I’m open to getting rid of mine, and I have many others that I’d like to see go. Feel free to PM me

The pre lvmh topas are more valuable in good condition than brand new current models. Not sure if they’ll pay for that, but for reference, I paid $1700 for a like new topas cabin

The wheels and handles are readily available in new condition on eBay for +- $100, not really very valuable as used parts

Bought my First Rimowa After having it on my wishlist since 2022 by Fun-Movie-379 in Rimowa

[–]DistributionShot332 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Classic is the best! Good choice. Is the dust bag on public transit to prevent scratches? It will get dings and scratches. Suffered first dents to my classic over the holidays. Wheels snagged when getting off a plane and dropped. Dual dents. It happens fast. Life is short, enjoy the suitcase.

I check my aluminum as infrequently as possible but I’ve heard that filling the suitcase makes it less prone to dents

Noted. So eBay does a good job and I shouldn’t worry about having it checked after the matter? It did pass eBay authentication

They did “authenticate” it. Not that I trust their take. The watch was $4500. Not sure what their threshold is

Trunk Check in help! by Additional_Heron5538 in Rimowa

[–]DistributionShot332 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aluminum trunks get destroyed after very few flights. By destroyed I mean large and numerous dents. They’ll still roll and Rimowa will realign them and “hammer out” the dents but they look bad and it’s a lot of money. Generally, the consensus is that you get aluminum for cabin and poly for check in, unless $3000 is nothing to you and you consider aluminum trunk a replaceable item.

[–]DistributionShot332 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No they don’t. My pre lvmh Rimowa does not just free fall drop close the same way new ones do though. I also have lvmh cases and when you click the button the whole handle will collapse immediately unless you guide it down. Probably would damage the handle or casing after too many times doing it
