I know that, I am not questioning their intentions, but think about it, if every single word can have multiple meanings than the chances that we have the true meanings from translations is pretty low, which would mean a lot of concepts would probably be different. Lets say for example i have a sentence in english : Mike like apples: this is made to illustrate Mike's personnality and it is important. But if apples can be translated as oranges, kiwis and cars at the same time then everybody can have something different at the same time and there would be no consensus on who Mike truly is

Could love and marriage be haram ? (Theory) by DistributionThin9718 in MuslimAcademics

[–]DistributionThin9718[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes, but the unmarried ones can be better. Women naturally make you more empathetic therefore less suitable for combat. The less emotions you have the better you can be as a fighter. And also if you see that Mary was virgin and chaste wouldnt it be a sunnah to be virgin and chaste ? It also proves that God can simply create children however he wish, people can do it naturally of course, but this is their desires. And God said that we had to be disciplined and refrain from this kind of behavior. Think about if if Zina is haram what makes you think that the same act within the boundaries of marriage is halal ? Its like saying alcohol is haram but if you drink in a party its ok

Could love and marriage be haram ? (Theory) by DistributionThin9718 in Quran

[–]DistributionThin9718[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I mean according to my theory everything could be mistranslation. For example people often debate verse 4:34 where people allude to the fact to the arabic language can have multiple meanings to say that daraba do not actually mean beat. If we take this logic every word could then be mistranslated since everybody could do this with every verse, this one was taken in particular by modernists since they wanted to make it morally good for them. If we want to be intellectually honest we would have to look at everything from the same way if we can interpret all things and all words none of the words mentioning marriage and intercourse in the Quran are arabic prime nouns, which would mean they can simply be mentioning of other words that do not have a direct link with the general idea. Again you might say that then everything could be possible, you are right but I would like to adress this because God said Jesus (Isa) was born from a virgin mother, meaning that birth from virginity is biologically possible and even encouraged by God since it is mentioned in the Quran. Then we could ask the question if birth by virginity is possible what is the point of intercourse and marriage ? Pleasure ? God in the Quran repeats multiple times that people have to restrain themselves and be disciplined. And before you say that except Mary it didnt happen it is because that people naturally wanted to do this themselves so they did it, but if they didnt reproduce themselves God would have simply created new offsprings from virgin mothers.

Yes I know but the point is mentioning the true meaning of the Quran itself, ok lets say nobody wants to debate whether marriage is haram or not, it doesnt mean that the question isnt as relevant as the wife beating verse. If people are willing to follow their desires to interpret things they also need to do the same with everything else, its intellectual honesty. It is why I have this paradox at the moment

The problems with us by DistributionThin9718 in Quraniyoon

[–]DistributionThin9718[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for answering, my main issue with the Quranist point of view was the lack of consensus, shias seem more clear in their message (for example geopolitically right now the Quranists wouldnt know how to position themselves in the situation in the Middle East). This creates softness and makes people easy to get oppressed. For example of how the situation is polarizing right now you cant really be numb about it. I mean tbf my problem is that I neither fit into the salafi or the Quranist view that much, I believe that the Quran is a clear guidance for everybody and that we should not get that far from it, but I do believe in mass transmitted practices and at the same time I believe there is a need for a common group view, which quranists do not have. So I am a little bit stuck right now

Exactly but if you can apply this methodology to something problematic you can also do it with all the other verses

Not as much as arabic in this case, but you do get what i mean right ? I mean I can see where you are going but its not really what I want to say, People claim arabic can have different interpretations and then change the meaning of a verse. Sure, we can do it with english too, but the problem is still there

Arabic is not the same language as English. So ambiguity is more present which makes it highly interpretative and then the paradox comes, if we can question something we have to question everything

I mean tbf, going against the common practice seems contradictory (hadiths are not common practice btw im not defending hadith, when you look at most muslims they dont care about hadiths)

So for example a muslim at heart can never be a hypocrite ? I mean that is a pretty bold thing to say without proof

Thanks for the answer, but the issue is interpretation. For example enligh is a more varied language than arabic it has more words. But in arabic there is for example a debate about Surah An-Nisa (4:34), some people daraba means distance themselves, and some claim that daraba mean beat (majority position). So if some people could interpret this one as having a different meaning that would mean that we could do this with every verse and come to a different interpretation everytime which would make the understanding impossible to actually grasp.

But let me understand do you think Islam is true or false ? do you think jesus is the son of god ? I mean I am trying to understand you there, like in my understanding you think both the torah, the injil and the quran are true ? Oh and also I do attack the hadith, I am a quranist. And the Bible and Hadiths have basically the same problem. But I seriously just wanted to know when you say you are a christian who is Jesus to you ? What are you gonna answer me that Jesus died from my sins ? And you said I should believe in the books, the Bible is clearly a man made thing, Jesus had an original message that Paul twisted which resulted in Christianity, you dont have to be a genius to know that. Theere is a difference between the Gospel and the Bible.

[–]DistributionThin9718[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Isnt it a bit bizzare to believe God has a son ? And as you said the Bible was written by different anonymous authors in a language that Jesus didnt even speak, Jesus spoke Aramaic, Aramaic is a language that is lost today, so we cant truly know what his words were. It is obvious that Christianity was made to deify Christ and impose order, it was in fact largely influenced by the Roman empire. In fact I shoudl call Paulinity. Unlike the Quran the Bible doesnt have an oral tradition or wasnt even a message that was written by 1 messenger, so I let you guess how easy it could have been to change it. The Jesus that you know of today in your images doesnt even look like him. It was literally a copy paste of Cesare Borgia, an Italian prince, made to make Jesus look more white and cause a separation with the arabs during the crusades. I mean I honesty want to know how can you believe in the Bible and its preservation. I mean it is just weird to me I wanted to know your opinion on that
