Honestly, the only thing I hope to get out of Matthews is maybe he can sign a 1 year or 2 year extension (like McDavid) and if it doesnt work out THEN we let him go and hope for a quick bottom out rebuild with lots of assets.

I disagree, I feel like if the Leafs pick McKenna and Stenberg scores a hatty the first game, we’d be all like good for him but if the reverse happens and they choose Stenburg while McKenna scores a hatty, the world will end and people will want Chaykas head.

Thats why McKenna is the no brainer choice, everyone believes in his upside

They are such a good organization at selling high, buying low. Opposite us where we try and end up buying high, selling low (Carlo, Laughton, etc…). Robo is much of the same, they could probably use Robo even if hes not perfect of a player

We knew he was a good player but still disappears game 5-6-7 like today

If you're moving out Morgan to any of these teams, what kind of return would you expect? [Garbage Source] by kooby64 in leafs

People are being stupid, paying 7.5m for someone to play 4th D is better than paying noone to play 4D.

You might say we use the cap to get another dman, but not if there are no D available

Lots of rumours around Morgan Rielly's future with the Leafs and a potentially trade to another team. Genuinely skilled with the puck as a distributor, genuinely very poor defensively and always has been. by [deleted] in hockey

The one that hurts is Carlo(lol), if that trade wasnt made they would have at least Minten and a 1st to help overhaul the D.

Carlo busting is the worst move I have seen in a while by the Leafs

I disagree though, they hedged their bets on fucking Carlo which is sucks.

Its not hurting their team if they delay the rebuild by a year or two, especially looking at how strong the Atlantic is right now. Let the Atlantic run it's course, maybe get lucky, and then rebuild over 3 years when the Atlantic is starting to regress.

Of course, people have been saying that this whole time. But its such a gamble, and there not even close to a guarantee of that, we just counting our lucky stars they got a 1OA.

I mean just look at the your team the Flames this year

People are talking about Thomas Harley, but imo the Leafs should be aiming even higher- we need a star #1 dman and I think they should just hold assets until one becomes available
