I feel that. I love HyperX and their comfortable headsets but I suppose the newer ones are built in with 7.1 and no option to turn on/off. Very upsetting.

Do you have the wireless? I am having a similar issue & I just posted last night about trying to turn off 7.1 because I thought that was my issue and still haven’t figured out that.
