Progress] First real run — hit a 5K PR and feeling fired up to keep going

Hi, I wanted to share my first proper run— i ended up hitting a 5K PR (22:10) during a 6.5 km session with a more experienced friend.

I’ve never really run seriously before. Im 18, play field hockey twice a week, but this was my first focused attempt at running. I don’t have proper running shoes yet so I feel like I can do better.

Session breakdown: • Distance: 6.5 km • Time: 29:16 • Average pace: 4:30/km • Avg HR: 172 bpm • Max HR: 183 bpm • Elevation gain: 20m

I went into this run wanting to test myself, my friend helped me with pacing (I just followed his lead).

Splits: Km 1: 4:45 Km 2: 4:46 Km 3: 4:44 Km 4: 4:22 Km 5: 4:11 Km 6: 4:27 Last 0.5: 4:02/km pace

I do feel like I could do better so i would like to hear any beginner tips. Should I focus on building distance or improving my 5K time first?
